whats wrong with my typing?

Allow me...

Although many people have not been taught touch-typing in these modern times, one postiviely should master the use of the SHIFT key for capitalization, and the various keys for punctuation such as the apostrophe ['], the period [.], the comma [,] et.al. I am sure one could be persuaded to have such reference books handy as a dictionary, a thesaurus, and possibly a Grammar Desk Reference for correct spelling, usage of captialization, usage of punctuation, and grammatical formation of sentences.

By using capitalization and punctuation, one can express their thoughts with a higher degree of clarification. Such keyboarding techniques require only a minor expenditure of energy to produce a visually appealing and readable message. After all, you are posting in a Forum, and not text-messaging...

This is the 21st century. Use dictionary.com or m-w.com. But I haven't found a good grammar site yet. Pasting the text into Word offers some help with grammar.

I am well-aware of the electronic versions of said references. However, a book or hardcopy of any reference is convenient when a computer is not available. At times, a book/hardcopy reference is easier to use, and possibly faster - especially if you do not wish to bounce between windows... And before you so indicate, I am aware of the various "checkers" in the modern word processor applications such as WORD...

People tend to take your posts a lot more seriously when they seem well-thought and are structurely correct. Hence- "whats wrong with my typing?" should be "What's wrong with my typing?" . Presentation is the first thing a fellow poster would notice, so even if the content of your post is brillant if you type it in text talk your fellow poster isn't usually going to take it as seriously as if you had taken the extra five seconds to type it correctly.

Personally, I'm finding the on-line versions much faster because switching between windows is so easy and not really an issue. Grabbing a book is more of a hassle as I have to take my eyes off the screen. And it's more powerful as the on-line dictionaries are good about offering suggestions if I'm unsure of the correct spelling of a word or I can enter a form of the verb such as "pasting" or "grabbing" to quickly check if my conjugation is correct. Plus solutions can be copied and pasted from one window to the next sometimes faster than I can type. As far as availability of the PC, I now have a laptop with WiFi so I can work anywhere and if I'm in a hotspot, post from the same. I'm hoping we'll eventually have the world's information available at our fingertips but I'm still concerned if we'll be processing information at only a superficial level.

So far, I'm not too impressed with word processor checkers. They are useful for some problems but almost as often I disagree with its analysis and suggested solution.

And don't forget spelling. Razz Personally, I don't care, as long as it is readable and I know what is intended.

Yeah, I guess spelling is important too Wink . It doesn't really bother me much, either as long as it isn't every other word. I don't think most of us expect every bit of grammar and spelling to be perfect.

I rather like this one:

and this is kind of neat:

This person seems to have good videos of Wicked on their profile (I rather enjoyed Sebastian Arcelus' "Dancing Through Life", and his and Julia's "As Long as You're Mine".) Also if you search specific titles of songs and/or scenes you are bound to come up with one thing or another. YouTube is flooded with wicked clips. Laughing

Edit - I seem to have forgotten the link. Embarassed Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=minacarstairs

Sorry that i'm not the best person to spell things! But i can't really help that! It's not my fault is it! You don't have to be so horrible!

Woah, chill out. No one is attacking you. In fact, I think everyone was being rather lax about it. If you noticed, Pounce was talking about MY two spelling errors. I was merely pointing out that people would take your posts more seriously if you used correct capitalization and basic grammar. No one is expecting you to be an English major.

i can't help it! i m dislexic!

Doesn't dyslexia impair the ability to recognize and comprehend written words? What would that have to do with capitalization and your overly zealous use of exclaimation points? I'm not attacking you here, I just actually am curious.
wickedeast2102

Yeah, give the girl a break. I mean, it's a message board for musicals. It's not a message board for Yale or Harvard. As long as we can read it, then it shouldn't matter!

It does matter if it gives you a headache reading it.

Now, honestly. It seems like it is getting under your skin now, huh? It gives you a headache? Come on. If it does then don't read her posts. However she wants to write is up to her. Check it out, it's called the 1st amendment. The 1st amendment should be fine to read since it's written in correct english. Smile
DramaRobin2002

Really, it's not getting under my skin. I don't even know why this has gotten this big as I wasn't even at all nasty in my original post and I was simply answering the question, "What is wrong with my typing?" I told the truth about what was and why. Yes, it does give me a headache. Bad grammar tends to do that because it takes twice as long to figure out what is trying to be said. Not good when one usually checks the boards when they're half asleep late at night or early in the morning, like myself. But, whatever. I could really care less. I was just trying to give some tips before someone else came along and was a lot meaner about it.
