Video of New London show at a museum of sorts?Hey nifty people,I seem to recall discussion of a taping of the show as it ran at the New London, in full, available to be watched at a theatre museum or something like to it in London. I think you had to make a reservation or call in an inquiry to arrange to see it... Can anyone elucidate? Also, any tips and tricks on arranging tickets to see shows in the West End would be greatly appreciated |

I believe the person who saw it was Spatzthecat. |

Unfortunately the Theatre Museum no longer exists! The collections all went to the Victoria and Albert museum, but are no longer on display. The V&A might have a system for viewing the archives if you can justify it as research? http://www.vam.ac.uk/
Hmmm. Arranging tickets for shows... well, as I'm local-ish I usually get day tickets or standbys, but the best site for great offers is www.lastminute.com you don't get to pick your seats, but I've never heard anyone have a problem with them. My favourite pink site! |

Ah-ha & cool beans. I recalled it had either closed or relocated or something, but wasn't sure &... Well. I was hopeful. Blame me?
Thank you for the help in finding that thread, Moongewl. Belle - yes, I had found the V&A theatre collection by googling "theatre museum london", however, as there was no mention of CATS in their online catalogue of the video project (http://www.vam.ac.uk/tco/video_project/index.html) I was wondering if it were perhaps a more specifically named collection that I was not finding on a that search. I should have mentioned that, sorry - I do appreciate the confirmation & info. As for lastminute.com, I will keep an eye on that. Regarding day tickets and standbys, is there something akin to the New York TKTS booths (http://www.tdf.org/TDF_ServicePage.aspx?id=56), or do those need to be sought at each individual theatre? o/t PS: In the interest of not necro-posting the other thread to express this, a heap of thanks, also, to those who wished me a happy birthday here, even in my absence. That, my dears, was awesome. (edited, as Belle replied between my browser refreshes - "d'oh" on me |

There is indeed a TKTS booth, in the centre of Leicester square. It's literally its own hut in the middle - all round the edge of leicester square are rip-off booths that also sell "discount" tickets... if you consider paying just under top price for a back balcony seat a "discount"... The actual TKTS booth is the only reliable one. I personally don't use the TKTS booth tho because I LOVE visiting the theatre box offices, and I still have my student ID! And I hate queueing. |

You're coming to London?! Whoop!
Yep TKTS is your best bet, and if you specifically want to book in advance then see-tickets are fairly helpful, friendly & usually want to give you the best seats they can without lying to you http://www.seetickets.com/see/index.asp? The TKTS booth doesn't sell tickets for everything (almost) but some shows such as Wicked and Hairspray you have to book via see or at the theatre. I was at thre V and A recently (although not to seek the cats collection/video), and I think thry may have passed it on somewhere else now, or locked it in their 'cupboards'. |

Hi
Yes that was me. If you do see it you have to make do with mono sound, very uncool ear phones and if they have taken the chairs from the Theatre Museum a sore butt. I booked days in advance, they were very strict, no eating, bags allowed and if you want to take notes, pencils only. BTW If you are in a large group of people and book in advance they sometimes at the Victoria and albert museum give guided tours of there basements. they have only 10% of thier collection on show. |
