Victoria at the Phantom performance?

Yep! It's true! Kim (known as BalletDiva on here) posted this picture over at musicalforums.net

Here are what some people over there had to say about it:

Then everyone runs off except the extended Ballet chorus. It looks like the blocking when Odette dies in Swan Lake. The stage BTW is bare with a starry backdown. And they do a small pas before stepping away to reveal. A white thing (from my height) infact it was a cat from CATS. She does a small dance and pulls her leg over her head. Then advances VERY slowly towards The Phantom. The Ballet girls are in the background kinda advancing with her like a prowl. 1 Minute later the cat finally makes her way over to the Phantom and hands him an object and they dance. Kinda hand in hand and she does more leg things. Then together the phantom the cat and the rats (ha!) sway...like sway left and right as the audience screams.

The ensemble comes back on and watches the cat exit stage right. Their head all follow her and I 'think' they point. As the crowd continues applauding.

umbrellaman from musicalforums.net wrote:
After raucous bows - standing ovations almost from the get go - the full crowd standing by the principals - the light comes down and small spots dance across the stage - McGillin goes upstage while the Dance corps is assembled downstage. A full moon is projected behind the stage, and the corps scatters a bit revealing a white Cat. the corps goes off stage and the cat ambles over to the Phantom and the dance a bit before the cat goes off stage.

The post show stuff was great as well. The CATS "handoff tribute" was nicely done.

Curtain call was all smiles, then the cast began to leave the stage. The house darkened again, and the ballet girls formed a circle. They parted to reveal Victoria from Cats, who then did a dance over to the Phantom downstage. They danced a bit, then she strutted off stage with the whole Phantom company extending their arms toward her (does anyone know who was dressed/dancing as Victoria?). It was a classy, funny, touching tribute to the show.

After everyone took their bows the lights went down and the cast starting moving around under lights like they do when the Phantom reads his notes, and revealed an actress dressed as a cat from CATS. She did some ballet movements and danced slowly up to Howard McGillin who was standing by the front of the stage, and symbolically reached out to him to pass the torch, so to speak.

Sounds so beautiful...it must have been amazing!

*sniffs*..congrats phantom...*sighs* She looks so pretty..yet I'm sad now lol..I have been the whole day. But I guess...it's still a webber musical so..yeah congrats. I wish I was there to see it.
Cassandra

Freakin' sweet! I'll bet that was beautiful to watch.

Looks like an authentic costume, too. My only gripe is that she didn't have a wig or make-up.
enkeli-kitten

*cries* It's so sad CATS isn't the longest running musical...but the way they had Victoria onstage is very cute and appropriate I think. Would have looked much better with a wig, though!! I wonder why she isn't wearing one? The costume looks good.
Kid

Very cool!

That is so cute ! A great tribute. It must have been lovely to watch.

Well, OLC Victoria didn't wear a wig, she had her hair like the woman in the picture with feathers stuck in it...

Such a wonderful way to signify the passing of the torch

That's what I was thinking. And you can see how that womens hair in the picture is in two buns/cones ontop of her head...probably to represent her ears.

Gawd, I was just gonna post that. Thanks for the piccies!

I'm soooo happy it was Victoria coming out. I would give my everything to see a live video of that! Can anyone help out?

Love it!

awww that cute. I am wondering who that is. Probably one of the ballet girls which explains the no makeup and wig, and probably Victoria because they made the costume recently, hence no detail. But cute none-the-less.
Drumdraper

What a wonderful idea! I wonder how long Phantom will hold the title before it's usurped.

Right... I get all that. But (and this is just my opinion), someone had to have had a Victoria wig from the Garage Sale that could have been used. And if they took the time to put her hair up in buns, the same time could have been used to slap the wig and some double-sided tape on her. And at least have someone draw a nose and some whiskers on her with a black eyeliner pencil. She looks too much like the OLC Victoria than a Broadway Victoria and this was, in fact, on Broadway.

I know I'm being way too picky about this. The fact that they did it at all is wonderful, and it did look beautiful. I just would have done it differently. Razz
QuaxoCoricopat

Hmm, true, it would not have taken too much of an extra effort to do wig and makeup, but the woman playing Victoria also probably is one of the ballerinas, and needed to be able to make a quick change. Washing off makeup and undoing your pincurls would take time that she may not have had.
Cassandra

The weird thing is, she was most likely already wearing a wig for Phantom, which means her hair was probably already up in pincurls. I'll bet they took more time and effort undoing the pincurls and making the buns than they would have just leaving the pincurls in and putting another wig on her. Bah!

Anyway.... Stick a fork in me. I'm done. Wink

Lovely passing of the torch, it really was. If the record had to be lost, I'm glad it was to Phantom.

I wonder if that unitard will go up on ebay. If it does Broadway Cares will probably get the funds.

Oh, what a lovely and symbolic idea. Thanks for the clip, Misto! Goodness, you can find almost anything, can't you?
pkitty663

yes thank you for sharing that clip Misto...I'm confident that if Cats goes back to Broadway that they'll win their title back...I hope they go back...
Etcetera Kitten

Wow! This is truly a symbolic way of passing the torch. It is great that they made Victoria come in stage. Even thought I'm sad Cats lost the title, I'm happy it is the Phantom that got it. ALW must be very happy about it hehe...
