Variety Show Song Ideas

I'm a junior this year and we do this thinkg called the "junior class show" they make it like SNL or whatever but we can really just do what we want to. i want to sing something, not necessarily a broadway song, but maybe something cool or well recognized.

Ya know, my favorite thing about variety shows and cabarets is that there is no limit. You don't really have to worry about things like you do for an audition. You could sing something from Wicked or Rent or Millie, or anything! Thats the glory of those kind of shows.
I'd say pick a song you feel shows off your voice best that you know well.

Taylor the Latte Boy is always good for Variety Shows. I mean, it's fun,has a pretty good range, and while some people can't identify with showtunes almost everyone can with Starbucks and love!

I second the vote for Taylor, the Latte Boy. That's my staple song for open mic performances, where there's never theatre people in the audience. It's a pretty safe bet for those kind of venues. I performed it once for a group where the audience was comprised of mostly rap singers, and they appreciated the humor.
