*sigh*!! What an amazing job that would be! I always tell people that if I move to NY, I'd have to work as a Broadway theatre usher by night. It'd be combining my two greatest loves; watching great theatre and yelling at those who talk during it.
Sorry, I can't offer you any information. It's just so awesome that you asked about this.

oy! one of my counselors at the theatre program I went to this past summer was telling me how he ushered on Broadway... it just dawned on me now I should've asked him how one does that... especially since he said he started doing it in his late teens....

I just have to add a funny little story. You gotta remember, I'm British ok?
I went to NYC in February 1993 and we saw 4 or 5 shows in the 5 days we were there. When we went to see Cats at the Winter Garden, we had seats on the stage (let's just call it the wings, it's more accurate!). This miniscule little usher man took us to our seats showed us where they were then stood in front of them so we couldn't sit down. He stood there, a fixed grin on his face. "Thank you." I said. He smiles some more, his head tilts to the side....
...
........
"Oh right, yeah, here ya go." and I gave him a tip.
We just don't do that!
