Use the audition sticky!!!

So lately there's been an abundance of postings about audition help. I assumed that was what the audition sticky was for at the top of the page, for general questions such as "what should I sing for X audition".

I admit I myself was just guilty of posting out in the forum, but I think that's just because very few people pay attention to the sticky anymore.

Maybe if more people posted under it, people would look at it more often and this board would be less cluttered with threads.

Not to be rude or anything, but you don't have to post under the sticky. The sticky is a mess with too many to look at and help out. i prefer when peopel set up their own topic. How does that hurt?

Well wording it like that, you are being rude.

It just gets crazy picking through a bunch of threads right in a row of girls auditioning for the same show. If you don't like the sticky (though its there for a reason) people should at least try to see if there is already a topic posted about the role they are trying for.

I mean recently there were three Once On This Island threads going on at the same time, all asking the same questions. Two of those were just unecessary space.

I actually agree with MsDivaKate on this one...

And if people post in the audition sticky, I've found that many times, their questions get answered just as quickly as if they would post them below.

Kate's also right about there being so many threads for the same shows at the same times asking the SAME questions. And many times, the subject just reads "HELP!" or something ambiguous like that...so I understand if people haven't taken the time to read each thread.

I would say that if you insist upon posting your own thread asking the usual "what should I sing?" question, that you mention the show's title in your subject at the very least...

I think that (in the VERY least) is an okay compromise...

I agree that they shoudl look to see if it has already been answered

I'm sorry, didn't mean to

Basically, I was just saying peopel will still help you out if you make your own thread. I mean yes wouldn't it be good if everyone used the sticky, but they won't, I was just letting peopel know if they create their own post anyways, someone will still help them out! Just want peopel to feel helped!

I agree with MsDivaKate and Jazzy 100%. The audition song sticky thread should be used for song help. I posted in there on Tuesday night and had advice waiting for me first thing on Wednesday morning. (ps: thanks for the advice Jazzy, I looked up West End Avenue and it's great for my voice!)

I personally feel like the rest of the board is for non-song choice questions: like the audition etiquette thread from a while back, resume questions, and encouraging threads like the unsupportive parents thread... stuff like that.

Just my two cents,
Rebecca

Rebecca you hit the nail on the head perfectly.

YES!! Specific questions for specific auditions can be answered in the sticky thread--"what song should I sing for X show?" more particularly.

For general questions about the auditioning process, there's an excellent thread called May I Direct Your Attention To...Great Game Just Started! or something like that, and if you go through it your question will most likely be answered. If not, ask it.

Anything else--unsupportive parents posts, resume posts, headshots posts etc. can be added as new topics.

Thank you for saying this, MsDivaKate, I was just about to post a very similar post myself! Wink

Please!

And don't be afraid if someone posts an audition thread similar to yours, to just use theirs. Sometimes there will be like six posts all looking for songs for the same character in the same show.
