Unusual 'Man to Man' interpretationsOne of the great things about OUAM (and Man to Man Talk in particular) is that a director is free to interpret the material any way he/she chooses and it always be successful. That said, how was "Man to Man Talk" handled in your productions? When I did it, it was pretty by the book, but one thing that I loved was the King's mime for 'Winnifred': he moved his arms like he was swimming, as a parody of Fred swimming the moat! For all I know, this has been done before, but it's been a year since I've done the show and it still tickles me!
So, what about the rest of you? Were there any unusual interpretations of this or any other song in your productions?

For ours, the king was holding flowers with a picture of Dauntless' face (me) on one flower, and a picture of Winnifred's face on the other one... and then did some interesting gestures with the flowers. It was hilarious!

The first time I did it, the guy playing the king made a circle with his fingers and placed it on his head as a crown, then swam, for "Princess Winnifred." In my second production (different cast), he made the same crown gesture, then mimed lifting weights a la "Song of Love."
My first production also used a running gag with Fred and I. When she sang, every time she hit a money note ("I am one man SHY," "and I hear the ca-AAALLL," etc.), she would fling her arms out like a diva, smacking me in the chest, and I would lose balance and fall. It was cute.

WinnifredThe king's pantomimes:
The king pantomimed lifting bar bells for Fred.
He pantomimed two pointy devil horns for the queen.
He pointed at his own back for "Harry." (Get it? Hairy?)
