[The Duchess of Mint]

Dear Cabaret Fans,

During the movie version of Cabaret, just as Sally is walking onto the stage to perform the song "Mein Herr," the M.C. whispers something to her, and she whispers something back to him (?). I've never been able to figure out what is whispered, so I'd be forever grateful if someone could tell me what they think is whispered (especially if they know for certain what's being said).

I'm also curious to know if the same unintelligible whispers occur right before Sally's "Don't Tell Mama" number in the Broadway version of the musical.
