UK Tour/London differencesI just saw Mary Poppins in Manchester... suPERB... as good as London, with a BETTER Mary and a really good cast.
The only differences were the sets, and even then only minorly, here's the differences I spotted:
The Jolly Holiday flowers are dragged on and are flat, not 3D things that rise through the floor.
The house is not fully 3D, but it opens like a storybook or dolls house, very impressive! The staircase and hallway are 3D, but the side rooms are flat, like storyboard pictures, but they have real lamps, which light up.
The nursery does come down from the heavens, but its a seperate piece, and only uses the outdoor window part for Chim Chim Cheree and Mary's departure in Act 1.
The cage for Ms Andrews departure doesnt come from, or go down beneath the stage, but from the back door in the hallway beneath the vase, and a couple of fireworks pop either side of the top of the door.
The 'wire' work seemed better in the tour than London!
Lisa O Hare is an amazing Mary Poppins.
Aside those small differences mentioned above, the sets, costumes, cast numbers and quality were all just as good if not better in some instances, than London!
