ugh i try to have love for angel but this stands in the way.i know it's minor...
but when he sings that today for me tomorrow for you song
he talks about benny's dog and how it dies and now it's in doggie hell.
that's out of character for angel if you think about it. i mean angel showed compassion by helping nurse tom's wounds.
but....i just don't like that now he's in doggie hell lyric.
it's kinda...well....maybe it's the animal lover in me which kinda bugs me.
why would angel say such a thing? it's not like the dog was being a jerk. so it was barking... that's what dogs do.

It was used as a lyrical device to say the dog was surely dead. "And sure as I am here that dog is now in doggie heaven" just doesn't work as well musically as hell.

Angel might be compassionate, but he also got paid a thousand dollars to kill a dog, and was pretty proud of it. And again, it was a lyric to show that the dog was actually dead - he's not literally damning the dog to hell.
For a musical that you seem to love to death, you certainly are finding a lot of "errors" and "out of character" problems. Nothing's perfect, I realize, but geeze.

yah angel reminds me of those drag queens i would see at area 54 here in austin (a drag queen club).. most of the people were into self and didnt care about anything else.

Hmm true. Thats not my reasons. I guess becuase Angle I think is one of the more poorly written chacters. She/He does not seem to have anything all to relatable or intresting. A bit of a Mary Sue if I may so myslef. But I think the thing is when I saw the show. I loved every charcther. And I liked Angle. I was surprised how funny and alive he was. Becuase I listen to the soundtrack alot and Angels songs are probabley some of my least favorite. Not that I hate them just... I don't really like them all to much.

Well, Angel is my second favourite character. I really like him.
And I understand the point of him - he's representing the cross-dressing population, so some people will be able to relate to him.
Like, Joanne - some peopelw ill be able to relate to her if they've had the same kinds of experience as her in their relationship.
Also, I imagine Angel being the person that ties them all together and keeps them happy, note how they all seem to fall apart once Angel's gone. He's very important to show how important friendship, and happiness is.
I think sometimes less is known about Angel - he just seems to be this happy smiling person for a reason. Because obviously, underneath he's suffering with AIDS, and parts of his life are very dark. It shows how that everyone, with the right mindset, can be happy even in the worst of times. I think he's interesting, because you don't know so much about him.
Just my opinion, but that's what I think
