I have been thinking about the previous Glinda's and I think that there are two types:

1) "Act 1" Glinda

2) "Act 2" Glinda

"Act 1" Glinda is an actress who can play more with the fun perky
G(a)linda than others

"Act 2" Glinda is an actress who really can pull of the perky but can deliver a really good "darker" Glinda

I noticed this when people said that Jennifer Laura Thompson wasn't a "top notch" Glinda. She can act as the more strong leader Glinda.

"Act 1" Glinda's are: Megan Hilty, and Kate Reinders.

"Act 2" Glinda's are: Jennifer Laura Thompson, and Kendra Kassebaum

I haven't talked about Kristin's Glinda. Kristin could play both sides of Glinda very well. She is in a class for her own!

That's funny that you would say that Kendra is more of a type 2 Glinda. I was supposed to see her but her u/s was there instead, but from what I heard, Kendra is more funny/goofy than anything else. I guess everyone has different views.

Kristen cant play anything but a ditz. and thats one of the reasons the character was so annoying in the OBC.

I think kendra can pull off both sides, she was really moving in Act two, and hysterical in act one...and the other one I've seen was Stacie Morgan Lewis..who was very good at both acts as well..but fabulous in the second act. A successful
G(a)linda should really be able to play both sides of the character..a silly little school girl who is manipulative and then who realizes what she has done and becoms "Glinda the Good".

well I personally feel that Kendra was very very perky, she really amuses me.
And whoever said Kristin was a ditz.
Bit mean, much? Shes really an intelligent woman, given that she is a pageant girl and many of the stereotypes of that go along wih her mannerisms, lol.
But she is extremely talented, and I know that I would be so intimidated to play such a role that she had already done. And feel extremely privileged. Kristin has a lot of insight into her characters, especially Glinda. Thousands, possibly millions of people knew nothing of her until she played that role, and now she is very commonly known.
She grew up in Broken Bow Oklahoma. Ive been there *grandparents live there). That was the smallest town Ive ever been in, lol. Very secluded. To come from that and blossom into what she is now, she must obnviously must be phenomenal.

I thought Kate Reinders was definitely able to pull both sides of Glinda off... she went full-out with the "Act 1 Glinda" and completely showed all layers to the "Act 2 Glinda." I also thought Kendra pulled off both sides as well.
