Two Ladies Performers

I had a question about Two Ladies. I know that in the original 1966 version, the number was done with the Emcee and two women. And I know that in the 1998 version, the number is done with one woman, and one man. I'm doing Cabaret next month, and I'm doing Two Ladies with the Emcee and a woman ensemble member, and I'm a guy, but their having me do the number in drag. Is this common? Or just something new that we're doing?

And, whenever I told anyone that I was cast as Victor, they would always say "oh, you'll get to do 'Two Ladies"...but in the 1998 version, Bobby is the one who is in the number, and like I said before, in the 1966 version it's two women. So I don't know why so many people would think that I was in Two Ladies unless there's a version that I don't know about that includes drag.

We're doing the show in this old 1940's art deco movie theatre, turned actual theatre, and it's absolutely perfect for Cabaret. A balcony with big red curtains and gold tassels, and ornate wall coverings and a tiny stage with alcoves in the wall about eight feet above the stage for the orchestra. The lobby has a bar, and tables and we've been told we're all going to be serving drinks before shows in character. The whole thing is an attempt to blur the line between reality and musical theatre...make the whole building the kit kat club. It's quite exciting. Just thought I'd share. [/img]

It's pretty common. Bobby was in drag on Broadway and the tour.

^Though from the pictures Bobby didn't look that woman-ish, he looked like a man with woman-ish featrues, like a hair curl. Plus I'm really jeasous you get to preform in that theatre and have this whole Kit Kat Klub thingy!!

I saw a community theatre production of it, and Bobby came out wearing a corset and stockings. That was interesting.

Its pretty common now for it to feature one woman and Bobby with the Emcee, as Bobby supposedly had a fling with Cliff and this song represents Cliff's bisexuality.

In a production I saw I believe he wore fishnets and character shoes with a nightie of some sort. It was like this in the revival too I believe.

Wow I had no clue that CLIFF was bisexual!

I think its more of something added in the revival script. It was also touched upon in the movie.
