tryoutsi want to try out for guys and dolls in my high school...i can act, i have had lots of experience. i have been in all the plays since i was a freshman. And i can sing (sort of)...anyway, i have terrible stagefright  when it comes to singing in front of people. is there a trick that i could steal from any of you?

just practice, practice, practice until you can sing your song in your sleep. I never like auditioning either, but I made myself go to lots of auditions and now I don't get as nervous anymore. Just take some deep breaths to calm yourself down. Tell yourself that you are well prepared and you have nothing to worry about. The main thing to get over your fear is just doing it over and over again so you get used to it. Good Luck!

Aww, I know the feeling, darling. I was Sarah Brown in this show recently and that was the first time I'd ever sung a solo in front of an audience. I have to agree with what Musicalluver said - in that the trick is to just practice over and over again. And also something that helped me was to sing my songs in front of family and friends to get me used to singing in front of people.

What I always tell people is just try to imagine no one else is there. Or pretend you've already gotten whatever role and it's a performance night...so sing like it's a performance night.

i am Liver Lips Lou..We are a very small drama department and do not have alot of guys...does anybody know what he does??
