Trip to NY and Rent Running Time...

Hey all! A few friends and I are planning a day trip to NY on a local tour bus. While in NY, we decided that we wanted to go see a show and with all the rumors that Rent may be closing in the near future, we decided that it was the show that we wanted to see. We plan on going to the 2:00 Saturday matinee. Our bus leaves for home from Macy's at 5:30.

My question is does anyone know how long the show typically runs? How far away is Macy's from the Nederlander Theatre? Is it realistic for us to see the show and still be back at 5:30?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Broadway.com says it runs for about 2 hours and 45 minutes.

5:30?? Isn't that like... REALLY early for a show to start? Beauty and the Beast started at 6:30 because lots of kids see the show, but... 5:30 seems really awkward... you're out of there by 8:00 at the latest - and that's when most shows start! Confused

No dear, she has to be out of the CITY by 5:30. The matinee is at 2.

Hmm... There is a chance that you might miss the bus. Shows never start exactly on time.

HE HE HE HE HE HE HE lol

But does anyone know how far the theatre is from Macy's? I mean, even if the show does end at 5 or shortly after, will it take 25 minutes to travel there?

They're both in Manhattan, right? (The theatre and Macy's)

If it went just as Broadway.com said, you'd be out of there by 4:45, but since, like someone said above, shows rarely start right on time, my guess is you'll be out of there moreso around 5:00-5:10ish.

I think you'll make it.

Yeah, both are in the Times Square area as far as I know.

Thanks everyone for your help!!

Actually, I don't think Macy's is in Times Square... Think
Roger's Chica

Macy's is definitely within walking distance of Times Square. I can't remember exactly where, but I know that I walked it in grade 11. Just make sure you map it out beforehand... maybe even walk it and time it so you know how much you have to boot it.
