Top Ten "Dirtiest" Musical Moments!

Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

Which ten musical moments (Ie: Songs, lines, blocking moves, etc.) are, in your opinion, the top ten dirtiest (Ie: the most socially controverisial... the "dirtiest") in musical (theatre, t.v., and movie musicals) history?

I don't know if I know the world of musical theatre well enough to compile a really good list, but I personally consider the following musical moments to be the ten "dirtiest" musical moments in history (NOTE: List is, more or less, in random order)

* Too many "Cry Baby" moments to name

* Maurice Chevalier's "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" (Although that song was never MEANT to be dirty)

* Too many "Sweeney Todd" moments to name (Ie: "A Little Priest", etc.)

* The suggestive dancing that's shown in the movie version of "CATS"

* The attack scene from the 1972 "Man of La Mancha" (Aldonza is attacked)

* The dismissal scene from "Evita" (The Mistress is dismissed)

* That sexy scene from the 1978, movie version of "The Wiz" (The scene wherein the Lion is being all sexy, with regards to the way by which he's talking to Dorothy...I like that scene, but some people might consider it to be shocking)

* The "Hello, Little Girl" number, from "Into the Woods"

* The underwear-flashing scene from Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" (The flamingo flashes Alice's underwear for the court)

* The last part of the song "Honey Ain't Got Nothin' on You" from the 1989 Disney t.v. movie musical, "Polly" ( Bill Cosby's poor stage daughter loses her shoulder strap not once, but twice! I think that the fact that they made her wear a too-big dress was immodest and rude! Look that song up on YouTube, and you'll see the shoulder strap...)

Thanks in advance for your replies.

LOL. You're such a pervert, Duchess. XD

The Rocky Horror Show! How could you leave that out?

Numorous lines in "Don't Tell Mamma" in Cabaret.
Lots of lines in Chicago too.
"You put in for Mamma, She'll put out for you."

Past The Point of No Return in POTO
"In my mind I've already imagined our bodies intwining,"

Starlight Express is packed with inuendos.
Salome

Aldonza is raped in Man of LaMancha not merely attacked.

one of the sexiest scenes in musical theatre is the nearly nude ballet between Kate Levering and Craig Beirko in "Thou Shalt Not" which represents their affair.

and one of my favorites that ive performed.. Janet tearing her bra off at the end of "Toucha Touch Me" in RHS.
Mungojerrie_rt

Shocked She doesn't tear it off in the movie.
UniquePerspective

The Full Monty.

I'll leave it at that.
Annie

Tick-Tock.

well thats only one of the problems with the film version.
AllThatJazzHands

This isn't really dirty, but Danny Burnstein (as Luther Billis) makes a suggestive hand motion when explaining how to pull down a cord...in the new South Pacific.

Also, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has some pretty suggestive lyrics, especially "Great Big Stuff". Haha. I love that song.
Vice

Everybody Rejoice from The Wiz movie. O.o I want to know what the people who came up with that scene were on...
But it's like... striptease... half nekkid people dancing. It's... weird.

The Frank-n-Furter/Brad scene in RHS is possibly the awesomest evar too. *smile*
broadwayxdoll

i dont think its like this is in the movie but when we did dentist is little shop we had one of the urchins in a rolling chair and when the dentist said "open wide here i come" the girl did one of those like air splits or whatever you call them.

I tink it works better to leave it on. More tasteful that way.
jarrod001

The sex scene in Avenue Q

The Wolfs genitals in Into the Woods

The nudity in Hair

T & A in A Chorus Line...And some of the dialogue

Contact in Rent

And some random stripper bar thing in Movin' Out
Matthew

I agree with Annie on Tick-Tock. Even the music is ridiculous sexy!

And Dawn...the pictures...ohmy.

first off RHS isnt tasteful.its lewd, crude and fun.

2nd..its the only way to reach that crecendo in Janet's libido at the end of the song. Sarandon not only couldnt belt that song out correctly..she didnt do the scene well at all in the film.

3rd..you are calling me distasteful for performing and enjoying that scene?????
Mungojerrie_rt

I'm not calling you distateful. I'm just saying I think it works better to leave it on.

I don't see how you can claim she doesn't sing it right. She was cast by the writer. The lack of power adds the the character's innocence lost.

Out Tonight in the movie or Rent. I cannot help but laugh at the the expressions of some of the guys in the background when they do the side splits in the air.
(I can do that too Cool )
Matthew

You should see the picture. It's really funny...

she DOESNT sing it right. she cant f* cking sing at all. Janet is a belt role. not a roel for soemone who can barely carry a tune. have you heard Alice Ripley do the song?? incredible. you should hear me do it too. Qpidsangel posted my version ages ago.

and it doesnt work better to keep her bra on. its a cop out in the film.

One thought that immediately jumped to mind for me was "Too Darn Hot" from Kiss Me Kate. Very suggestive, and extremely edgy for its time. Definitely my favorite part of the film...
Salome

you realize that Lois doesnt do Too Darn Hot in the play right? its Paul, Fred's Black dresser who sings it at the start of Act II.

Actually I have never seen it staged; only the film.
Salome

as fun as the film version is..it loses so much from stage to screen. you should buy the dvd of the london revival. its great.

You're ---- kidding, right? She wasn't cast for vocal quality.
Salome

Not to mention the fact that Richard O'Brien is far from the best person to sing Riff lol
Mungojerrie_rt

He should be, concidering he wrote it for himself to sing.

Of course, my favorites in the film are Tim Curry, Patricia Quinn and Little Nell (who's and Aussie Very Happy )

Actually...he wrote Eddie/Dr. Scott for himself, not Riff Raff.

yeah.

I honestly really do want to see RHS live... But I don't think there's any poductions of it in the US right now... only the movie.

It's playing in Australia at the moment! I know that doesn't help you but I'm going soon. Very excited.

that pic isnt for the general public unless they saw the production.
kakoforever

-Little Mary Sunshine- Reefer Madness
-all of Debbie Does Dallas
-Uncle Ernie- Tommy
-Some parts of Candide (or at least the version I was in) are pretty scandalous... "Bring the lubricant!"

My school just did Our Town the opera. I believe Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs sing to each other in the garden, and then disappear hand in hand. I believe its the same as the play. Anyhow, when they reappeared, the kid sitting behind me gasped and said "they just DID IT in the HELIOTROPE!!!"
Monsieur D'Arque

Who is the best person to sing Riff Raff, then?

And also, on the same subject, which production's band and orchestrations do you prefer? Opening Night, Roxy, Film, Broadway Revival, Australia, etc?
Salome

The revival hands down. best band best cast best energy.
Raul Esparza is the best to sing Riff.

Yes, but when is it touring? Has it left Sydney yet cause there's still no word of when it's comming here.

I prefer the 1991 Icelandic cast personally. Ever been here?: http://www.rockymusic.org/soundfiles.php
I got my Icelandic and Japanese CRs there.

Willkommen/Two Ladies in the 1998 Cabaret revival
"Texas is from America, but she's a very cunning linguist!" lol
Mungojerrie_rt

I've seen the lyrics to Wilkommen from the revival. I thought the spoken bits and introductions that they'd added were terrible. I much prefer the original.
nabla

I like them, they're fun, it kind of depends how good the person playing Emcee is.

Anyway, i don't believe good was part of the criteria for this thread Razz

They work with the concept.
Mungojerrie_rt

They might, I suppose. I only read them, haven't seen it or heard the track.
TR_Wolf

Lots of 'The House of Marcus Lycus' in 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum'... depends on the direction/choreography, but it can be pretty damn raunchy!

(hell, so can most of the show!)

Also, just to chip in, I've never seen any production of the Rocky Horror show have Janet remove her bra at the end of that song, but I dont doubt it'd work!
Mungojerrie_rt

I think some of La Cage Aux Folles would be 'dirty' I think. I've only heard a few songs.
Salome

there is nothing dirty in La Cage at all. its very typical Jerry Herman.
Mungojerrie_rt

From what was in the songs, it seemed to leave it open to some quite dirty staging. I suppose it depends on the production.
TR_Wolf

Nah, La Cage is all good natured fun, the only sort of 'saucy' thing is the naked children on the plates, which appear to be "playing leapfrog"
Mungojerrie_rt

I like that scene in the movie (the non musical one). I've seen the cd for sale but I have no money.

Not really "dirty" and it's not written into the script but it was pretty funny when Kristin Chenoweth flashed Norbert Leo Butz during her last show:

Can't believe none of you have mentioned Jerry Springer: The Opera.

Some stuff from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut...

Thalidomide: A Musical

"Me" From Beauty and the Beast (some of the lyrics are wonderfully suggestive: So Belle, what will it be? Is it Yes...or is it oooooooh yes?)

Some of Grease is pretty pervy: Get some Tit/Aint no shit/in Greased Lightenin'... the chicks'll cream... in Grease Lightenin' The wonderful "lousy with virginity" line.

But - yeah - it's still Jerry Springer: The Opera.

My friend's musical Yiff was pretty offensive... all about people who go online and become furry animals... and features a young man who comes on stage (and I don't mean he walks on stage)

Honestly, has nobody mentioned the rape scene in WSS yet?

the rape scene in man of LaMancha is more graphic.
