Too tall for RED?Hi everyone...Im planning on auditioning for ITW in about a month. The audition notice just came out and it said they want someone to play Red who is "teens - 20's". Im 24 and 5'8. But i also feel that I am a really good character actor. Do you guys think I would even have a chance being the height I am...or should I just audition for another character? For the audition we need to sing a song from the show...so if I was going for Red I was going to sing her part in the opening song, but if I am going to audition for something else I was going to sing a part from
"Stay with Me". Just looking for some advice. Thanks for your help!

Personally, I think it depends on your director for this show...most of the time Little Red should be at least shorter than the wolf and some of the other main characters that she interacts with, and I don't think that your height/age will be to your advantage...but if you think that you can really personify her well and can make it into a great character- and if the director is willing to go for it even though you're 5'8'' then I'd say go for it because maybe you could make it into something funny that you're tall!!!...but if you're not sure maybe you can go for both Little Red and the other characters to play it safe...I'd find out if you can audition for both so that even if they think you're too tall for Red then you'll still be considered for the other roles as well.
Hope that helps

I don't think it should depend on your height. In the OBC, Jack was way taller than the baker.
But in case you decided to do another part there's always the Witch!

I agree totally with choochoo. One of the reasons I didn't get a certain role was because I was too tall. So yes be safe and audition for both.

I'm 5'6" and recently played Red in a production, and our Witch was around 5'2" or so. Still, I'd stay on the safe side and audition for both.
