Sweeney Todd

Titanic Musical based of '97 Film

I know this isn't based off of the film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, but I think one based off of that version would be good. (THIS IS NO JOKE). Perhaps, to reduce confusion it could be called "My Heart Will Go On". The only reason why I post this is because I saw the movie again last night and totally saw areas where I could imagine the characters breaking into character.

terrible idea. ugh.
ShadowInTheWings

I think it has potential, if handled right. It would be tough, and would meet with tons of criticism, but I think there's real potential there.

Some people would injoy it just because of the movie...it certainly has potencial...however, i personally hate the film. I think a musical based upon it would be absolute crap...largely because of the risque situations that occur throughout it. I think that all of that is too much of the movie's point and that all of that stuff wold not transfer well onto the stage.
Da_Dark_Dude

haha - celine dion singing my heart will go on in the background and stuff

The yeston Titanic musical is great. why adapt inferior film whgen we already have a great musical based on the true players in the Titanic tragedy.

^^HEAR! HEAR!

its a good idea, but I dont think that anyone could come close to Celine, and the audience would keep grumbling things like "Celine was sooo much better" and stuff like that. The expectations for an amazing song that everybody knows like "My Heart Will Go On" are way too high

I'm tired of musicals based on movies.

(I had to post something here....no one's said anything since October for goodness sakes!)

This show is amazing and is popular by many AmDram companies, why on Earth is there hardly any conversation happeneing here?!?!?!?
Brock07

I guess because there's nothing new going on with it? And it's pretty hard to do as a high school show.

True, but I think it's quite popular among Amateur Operatics (I dunno what American's call them.)

I know, I had to force my mom to take me to a show before because she thought it was an opera version of the show.

She's not very "artsy".
Anno_Domini

I actually prefer not to call it amateur theatre. The word "amateur" just seems to bear an insulting tone to it. Instead, my friends and I prefer to call it community theatre
