Titanic Audition

Hi. I am a 25 year old mezzo w. strong mix and belt. I have an audition for Titanic in two weeks. The casting notice said to sing a song in the style of the show.

Does anyone have any reccomendations of what is in the style of Titanic of Maury Yeston? Or any suggestions of what song to sing? I am hoping to get cast as one of the 3 kates or at least in the ensemble.

thanks,
cristina

Well, Maury Yeston also did "Grand Hotel" and "Nine". I don't know anything about those either, but I know some songs from Nine are in my Singers Musical Theater Anthology books.
Listening to a few sample tracks on Amazon, it sounds very classical, so I would choose a song that is older, maybe R&H or something. stay away from modern popular things. The voices on the CD were very classical too, so sing something that you can sing legit, not belting or rock or pop-like. THat's probably all they want when they say 'in a similar style'.
I always recommend the song "What Good Would the Moon Be?" by Kurt Weill, from "Street Scene" it is also in the Singers Musical Theater Anthology - volume one.
