Tips for getting into character. Not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but I don't think it really belongs anywhere else. I was just wondering if any of you have special techniques for getting into character before you go out on stage.

I think one of the best tips somebody gave me for staying in character through a show was to never get out of character when you go off stage. This doesn't work for everyone, but it's become second nature to me and has really helped me in the past. In Bat Boy, I had a long break off stage between two very dramatic scenes of mine; in that break was "Children, Children," a very comedic song. Finding a dark, quiet as possible, corner to stay in character through the scene.
To get into character before a show, I like to do some role-playing/improvising with characters I spend a lot of my time with. It really helps me get into the mindset of the character.

I generally just use good old emotion recall for a few minutes before I go on, with any emotions I have to do between then and the time I go off again, so they're fresh in memory.

It helps if you tell everyone to call you by your character name and not your real name throughout the periods of rehearsal and performance...
