Which recordings/DVDs would you recommend to someone interested and wanting to know more about the show?

The best recording is the 1977 Willet/Manheim translation. Starring Raul Julia,Ellen Greene and Elizabeth Wilson.
its perfection.


Film wise..get the 1931 original German film..it changes alot but it hs Lotte Lenya in her original stage role.

also check out the 1990 film version "Mack The Knife" with Raul Julia,Richard Harris,Julie Walters and Bil lNighy.
the translation is not the best but the cast is amazing.
