Thoughts about programmes and playbillsWhenever I attend a musical, an opera, or a classical concert, I would sometimes take programmes home with me. However, I felt like adding playbills and souvenir brochures to my musicals collection. I do not want to buy that many, but I'm mainly interested in the original cast brochures and playbills.
I've bought a playbill and a brochure off eBay, and I would very much like to say that even if a Playbill is collectible, I tend to like the souvenir brochures that little bit more. The write-ups in the souvenir brochure tend to be more focussed on the production you see, whereas a playbill, regardless of the theatre you attend, has write-ups all under the general heading of theatre, rather than the specific show itself.
What are your thoughts on playbills and souvenir brochures? Are they of any use once you have seen a stage show?
