THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE Stenog DesksI'm in desperate need of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE stenog desks for my production that opens in two weeks. I had arranged to rent them from a nearby college, but the school mistakenly double-booked the desks and my group was the one to lose them. Can anyone give me a lead on where I can find these desks or any other set pieces for THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE? The closer to Illinois, the better . . . but at this point, any leads would be appreciated. Even if you have suggestions for how to construct the desks . . . that would work too. Feel free to respond here or you can contact directly through e-mail.Thank You! Bryan M. Vandevender Director Normal Parks and Recreation Summer Theatre Normal, IL vanderveeder@hotmail.com |

We had to resort to making them ourselves at the last minute. Because of this we went for simple and used the old style school desks that had a metal frame with the chair and table surface built in. We got a school custodian to supply damaged ones with intact frames for free. We replaced the table tops with something more appropriate and decorated them a little.
We welded casters to the bottom so that the desks could be rolled easily when Millie has the scene in "Forget about the boy". |
