THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE! ASAP!

Well, I think I've waited a little too long to post this, because auditions are in 3 days, but I'd love some help from anyone who knows "Throroughly Modern Millie". What I would really like to know is how many good parts for girls are there, and what type of voices do they require.

Any extra info you can give is also greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Well, there is the main role- Millie, I think she's a mezzo-ish. no real high notes

Miss dorothy- Soprano, a really fun role

Mrs. Meers- alto, funny

other girls at the hotel, not really big roles, but some get a few lines

If i could pick, i'd be dorothy, she seems the most fun. but that's just me.

there's also muzzy and miss flannery. i think they're belters.

I am singing "I enjoy being a girl" from Flower Drum Song. Good luck on your auditions (even though they are far away!)

same to you! let us know how it goes.

muzzy van hossmere is a big belter. you need to have a really strong voice to play her.

also, in my opinion, dorothy brown is quite a bland character. shes not really that funny, and doesnt have as crucial a role as millie, meers, or muzzy.

Well auditions went pretty good. We are supposed to find out tommorow what parts we got! I'd be happy with just a dancing role, but an actual character would be great too! Very Happy

good luck!
keep us posted

I'm so excited! I am a specialty dancer, so I'll get to dance A LOT! I also got cast as "Lucille" so I'll get to sing also!

One of my friends got into the chorus and is also "Muzzy's Friend" (its her first ever show!) and she was wondering if anyone knew the details on that part... our first rehersal isn't for like another month, so she was just kinda anxious.

thanks for everything everyone!
paiintmeblue

oh congratulations! that's exciting.
no, sorry, i don't know much about the show.
let us know how rehearsals and such go. =]

Congrats on your part :]

I just skimmed through the part of the script where I thought one of Muzzy's friends would show up...there's a scene where Muzzy is having a party, maybe that means one of the guests? (They're just Guests #1, #2, and #2 in the script...they each have a line and dance at the party.) I could be wrong, but I think that might be it. I can't remember anything else it might be.
broadwaybaby124

ooh!
congratulations!
What you got its what I'm hoping for in my show too!
I was thinking about Dorothy but then I realized I would be able to dance more with a part like what you got!
Congrats again!
And post pictures when the show is over!

muzzy's friends are one-liners. they're funny, though! the scene is muzzy telling about where she sang in the world aka buckingham palace, the great wall, and the best line, the vatican. i hope she has that one!
