Theatrical Makeup - Wounds, Cuts, Gore (You've been warned!)I just finished a term in a stage makeup class and it was fabulous! The last project we did was wounds and cuts on our faces. I wanted to share my work! I'm pretty proud of it. I've gotten pretty good responses to it on facebook, myspace etc.
It's done with a mixture of nose and scar putty, liquid latex, makeup, and stage blood.
I've had some friends tell me that it made them slightly naseaus when they looked at the pictures. I don't think they are THAT bad, but I feel like I should give a warning before you see them.

Scar done with foam based gelatin and powder.
Chin cut with putty and makeup.
Popped blister on face. My professor did this one, he demo-ed on me.
This is all from a different day, and a different makeup job. Fat lip.
Cut cheek and black eye.
Broken nose.
The whole face!
Anyone want to share theirs?

Those are horrible (in a good way).
I'm having troubles putting on some make up to make me look dirty in Hooverville.

That's vile. And I mean that it the most complimentary way possible.

My best friend did something very similar for Bill Sikes in Oliver ALL ON HIS OWN, and it turned out PHENOMENAL.

On the topic of awkward prosthetic things..
Would it ever be possible for me to somehow create about 1 inch to a 1.5 inch platform to adhere to the bottom of the bare foot, and not be seen as abnormal from reasonable distance?

I wish I took pictures when I did this stuff. Maybe I will sometime soon.

To go into a pair of shoes? Or to just be barefoot in?

Well done, Pappy. I do a good black eye, but that's just about the limit of my injury makeup skill. I'm impressed.

Phantom On A Budget

Good work Pappy! That'll make your Halloween that much more fun.
I don't do much theatrical gore/horror stuff, but I love to play around with other SFX stuff. Here are some of my Phantom makeups (keep in mind I'm a girl, too, so I've got to go from relatively cute to horribly disfigured dude):
Those were done with liquid latex, cotton, various creme and RMGP makeups, and the forehead prosthetic (first pic) I sculpted and cast myself.
Bianca - I would say it's very, very impractical and probably wouldn't look good at all. Is it to make you taller? You'd have to do a cast of your foot, sculpt the prosthetic, cast that again to make a negative mold, and then finally make the prosthetic, but that is very costly depending on the material you use, and generally requires at least a good amateur makeup artist (if not professional) to do it justice.
