Please,Hello

The worst possible as the best possible.

Witch would make a better movie despite how it could never happen.
Please,Hello

do you agree?

Sunday In the park!! James Lapine actually turned down a movie version of this (which according to the Special commentary on the SITPWG DVD he regrets).

I could imagine a movie Marc Foster (Finding neverland) in style...
Sweeney Hyde

I've thought heavily about a Sunday in the Park with George film... I dunno...sometimes I think it could work...it's just so theatrical...really I think the one that would have the hardest translation to film would be Pacific Overtures though, seeing as how it's based on Japaneese STAGE elements. Anyone Can Whistle...meh... don't see it ever happening for any reason... Merrily I think could work... Evening...meh... Assassins would also be a hard translation to film... Sunday though... if any of the harder to put on film shows would be made into a film this would be it... as of now I just don't see it being good...some sort of gimmick in the story or concept is necissary for it to work and I can't think of one that would really work well... I've thought about cartoon-type things for the "painted" people...it's just so abstract...

The films of Sondheim's shows that can be made into films are:
A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum
Company
Follies
A Little Night Music
Sweeney Todd
The Frogs
Passion
Into the Woods
MAYBE Merrily We Roll Along

These are the most plot oriented... I think that's crucial... because abstract theatre/non-linear theatre =/= abstract film/non-linear film... at least in my mind. Basically what works on stage won't necessarily work in film.

There is some discussion on how a PO film may work:
