Well opening night was yesterday....
jazzygirlsings

I'm gonna venture a guess that this is a bad sign...
MademoiselleMusicals

Well I was trying to find a more positive article on BBC Online but there was only this one... On the news there was a really pleasant report on it so I would have thought the website team would have put up a more recent article.

Check the BBC online today for a review of the opening night

Critics love it! The actor withdrew and another took his place. Simon was not going over well with the UK audiences during previews my dears. He was horrendous. Hanson is in and that is all there is to say.

Cheers

If you've seen it, Sue...I would like to know more about your thoughts...There's more to say than that! LOL! Laughing

Hanson is not the most handsome of men, but he does sing through and with very little rehersal time he was great in the show. Would have luv'd to see him "Aspects."

Connie sang lovely the kids seem to love her and it went off well. Lesely Garret is great of course she sings so wonderful.

Luv'd the way the sets were put up, the orchestration is oh just so exciting.

You can hear a bit of it on their website http://www.soundofmusiclondon.com/

I was a bit worried Connie would not carry it off, but she did with flying colors. Her mum and nan were in the audience and they were so proud of her. Andrew is loving this and the show seems to be sellign quite nice. So the TV show worked BBC is loving.

A bit hung over today. The party was a smash.

Cheers
Salome

weird how the article or Webber lies by stating Julie Andrews strained her vopice when young. her vocal problems didnt happen till she was in her 50s.
jazzygirlsings

Exactly...That's so wrong! Those were my thoughts as well...that's NOT how she hurt her voice...

I saw the cast on children in need the other night and i really though Connie looked ill. I dont know what anyone else thinks but to me she looks very thin, pale and gaunt. Did anyone else see it?
AnnieOakley

I seen it as well ... but thinking back you are right she was very pale and pasty ..

Apart from that I enjoyed what they did and thought it was sung and choreographed very well

I am glad it worked

How is the production overall? Is it the usual "happy" show or were darker elements thrown in?

Also, how were Max and Elsa's songs? And did they do "I Have Confidence" in this version?
MademoiselleMusicals

I saw Connie and the children on CIN as well. However I think that Connie was way way too OTT, she was making ugly, akward moments with her arms for instance and it just looked so staged. I thought the children were brilliant though.
jazzygirlsings

So you're saying she's a bit over the top?

What about the darker themes? Is this just another surface sugary-sweet production of SOM...

What a darn shame!
Salome

its a Webber production what do you expect.
jazzygirlsings

I dunno...I thought maybe he would get a brain and actually take it in a new direction...

So much for wishful thinking! LOL!
