During this scene Anna tries to persuade the King that love for a woman is the same across all cultures. However, I have a funny feeling that although the song appears to be romantic, perhaps - just perhaps - this song shows Anna trying to get the upper hand over the King's views, even if she does it subliminally.

of course thats what she is doing. she is trying to explain love and romance to the king. its fairly obvious. just look att he dialouge before the song and the King';s song that occurs 2 seconds before Shall we Dance.
