The Princess Bride

Okay, so first of all, I'm obsessed with this movie. I think it's fantastic.

A while back I read something about Adam Guettel doing the score for a musical version of The Princess Bride. I think a musicalized version would be excellent, especially in Guettel's hands.

So, has anyone else heard anything? And/or, thoughts on Princess Bride as a stage show?

It died in Seattle. Unless they change their minds, they've given up on it.

What happened, exactly?
The Very Angry Woman

Jeff Leibow was in one of the workshops. (I assume before Seattle.)

From what I understand the Author of the orginal book that the movie was bassed on wanted more of the profit then he was promised and he didnt get it so it ended up dieing. I was also hoping to see the musical version! but i guess it wasnt meant to be

That's all true, plus critics who saw it did not like it and apparently word of mouth was not good either. Guettel has pulled it and said he's not likely to try and revise it.

Oh no! I loooove this movie, and I'm worried that a musicalized version would be disappointing! It's such a perfect movie, it would have to be EXTRA perfect to be a musical!!

Hey, they did it for Legally Blonde...mind you, I'd hardly call the film perfect...anything but, in fact

I agree. I was watching the film tonight, something I haven't done in ages, and I kept comparing it to the musical. I just like the characters better in the musical, probably because they have songs to flesh out their characters.

Which is the point of a musical. Oh, well, it made sense in my head. Embarassed
