yup, you read correctly. So it's been awhile since we've done a forum cast and i've been wanting to direct one for phantom for a really really long time so i got the okay from Aimee and here we go.

for you new guys, a forum cast is basically where people nominate themselves for characters from a show (in this case phantom) and after a certain point i'll make up a list of all the nominees and we'll began voting. people can pm their votes to me and after awhile i'll tally them up and post the results and we can have our own little virtual phantom cast and make banners and all that.


RULES
1. nominations must be in by September 22nd after that we'll began voting, all votes must be sent in by October 1st
then results will be posted sometime in that next week

2. You cannot vote for yourself

3. You can audition for as many characters as you'd like but you'll only end up with one.

4. As much as I would LOVE to play the phantom, you can only audition for roles in your gender. yeah sorry guys, you can't be christine

5. When you vote please vote for all the characters


6. If a person is cast in more than one role, one of the roles will be given to the runner-up.

7. Whoever has the 2nd and 3rd most votes for each character will be cast as the understudy (giving each role two understudies).

8. If someone gets no votes, they will automatically be in the chorus so that everyone ends up with a part no matter what.

9. if you audition please take the time to vote

10.if there is a tie for a role the role will go to whoever didn't win any other roles or i will pick randomly

Christine: I love the phantom. I have been obsessed with the character for a long long time. I think I would be good at Christine because i can really understand why she's attracted to the phantom and I could bring a lot more emotion to it then most actresses. I feel like she always comes off as kind of dull and boring but when done right with good acting and singing she can really be great. And i'm a pretty high soprano so I could sing her stuff

Meg Giry: Meg always gets looked over by most people but i think she is a really interesting character. You don't really get her whole story from the musical. I think it would be fun to play her and create my own sort of background story for her. Like I think she is probably kind of jealous of christine her mom gives much more attention to christine then meg. I think it would be cool to sort of play that up. I also really like her solo in "the angel of music", and it would fun to do all the "he there, the phantom of the opera!" stuff

Madame Giry: I like Madame Giry a lot because she is the only one who really knows the story of the phantom. I feel like she understands him more then most. She is very wise and I think I could play that well. And i know a lot of french and can do i good french accent

Why you deserve this role:

Raoul:
I have been told that I am romantic lead material. Raoul has helplessly fallen in love with Christine and will do anything for her, yet he is ignorant to the relationship between Christine and her Angel of Music because he just wants to protect her. I love the bit in Think Of Me, when he literally remembers her, it's so nice. Also his desperation to save Christine in the trio at the end. It's heart-wrenching and I can do it justice!

Phantom:
Phantom has always been the overplayed role with such stereotyped characteristics. I will find a new freshness for him, he has been carrying this burden all his life and has never been accepted in society, so his only pride and joy is his theatre and of course his protege, Christine Daae. He is shy and secluded with her but demanding and forceful when it comes to the ruling of 'his' theatre. He is really brought to the end of his tether during the show, shaking what's left of his self-confidence and ruining his obsession with Christine. I can bring this to the stage, giving a new look on the classic Phantom.... oh and my singing teacher used to be Phantom

I am a diva. Overdramatic as well, and I am incredibly ambitious. Not to mention feisty. Does it help that I like opera as well? In a nutshell, everyone 'loves me loves me loves me'.

I am torn between two people at the moment, which reflects that of Phantom and Rauol so I can really relate to Christine. I feel that I could bring the emotion needed to Christine - especially during her solos. I would also show her seductive nature (Past the Point...) AS well as her innocence.

Why you deserve this role: I think Meg is such an interesting character. I would love adding my character to hers. Her friendship w/ Christine seems so strong, yet she is also jealous of her. I'm a pretty good supporting actress, dancer, and have an alto/sop.II range.

Christine: She is the character I would want to play most, and I feel like we are similar in some ways. I'm really not a diva, and I'm very indecisive
. I can't really make a decision to save my life, except when it really matters. I have a certain fondness for the character of the phantom, but in some ways he does send a chill down my spine. Raoul is more my kind of man, and I would probably also chose him in the end. I like feeling safe and protected, but tend to sometimes wander toward the bad boys. I'm a soprano and can hit most of Christines notes, although I know that doesn't really matter in this situation. I can play the part as innocent and naive, but also add in more life and seduction. There's more to Christine than meets the eye, and shes not just a passive ingenue if played by the right actress. She is a dream role of mine and I would be honored to be considered for role !

Meg: I know I could play this part and do it justice, and I think her part is one of the most underestimated in the show. I could pull off her dancing and would be happy to be chosen.

Why you deserve this role: Like many others, it has been my dream role for many years. The show is what initially started my adoration for musical theater. I have read the original Leroux novel, and the wonderful Susan Kay version of the story.
As for the actual character, I am very close to the character "Christine" in age. We both share a somewhat irritating lack of decisiveness (see my "ITW" board ). I appear and believe myself to be very innocent, but once in a while I surprise myself when it comes to "older" matters. At the moment, I am in a pre-"Think of Me" or even "Il Muto" state of being. Due to my age and lack of experience in theater, I have been cast in rather small roles, but I am not one to complain. However, someday I think I will be like Christine and hopefully find my way into the spotlight. (However, I think I could do without the tragic ending.)
Vocally, I think I am rather capable. My voice teacher knows that I love Phantom, so we go over many of the songs in lessons. Including the end of the title song. I am a Soprano.
Last year, I had a chorus teacher whose very good friend played Raoul on Broadway. I cared deeply for my chorus teacher (in a friendly way, not romantic ), and thus cared about the man who played Raoul. (Ok, I'm just being silly at this point.)

Why you deserve this role: Christine- For once in my life, can't I play the ingenue? I always play old women or funny roles, and I'd like a chance to play the pretty girl. Plus I have a nice high soprano voice (we're not going to talk about fach..), and I know pretty well all her lines, because I was at one point highly obsessed with this show. I still love it, but I probably won't admit to that.
Carlotta- This is the role all my friends tell me I was born to play. I've got the crazy opera voice (I'm not a coluratura, but non-singers don't know that), and I would LOVE to play a diva, with those gorgeous costumes and all those people kissing my feet. Not that I am a diva in real life, or anything...

I love to dance and I have her vocal range. I also feel I look like Meg Giry from the book, pale, skinny, dark-haired, loves the odd and dark. Meg Giry is a dream role of mine. But sadly, I am not a ballerina, so I will settle for a forum cast instead of a broadway cast.
And if I don't get Meg, then I will gladly take the role of chorus Ballet Girl. Because they are awesome.

Why I Deserve This Role:

The Phantom of the Opera is my number 1, among roughly 50 mind you, dream role. It was the show that got me into theatre and at the heart of this show is this role. I love it so so much. I might possibly feel a connection to him more than any other role in theatre. I have loved many times without the person I had the feelings for now it...for a number of reasons. When I was younger I was quite chubby...I really thought that I would never have had a chance with some of the girls I liked...and then I was mad at myself for liking such concieted people...but I think they were all worth liking...if nothing else they allowed me to feel something.
Far too many people see this show and only see the songs and pretty voices...and it's a shame because I find the show just so touching and moving on so many levels...and it's not just the music that does it...it's the story and the work as a whole.
I have seen the show three times...the most recent time I got to go backstage and got to stand at the organ and on the boat and such...never has a place felt more like home to me.
Long story short, too late I know, I love this show. I love this role. I would be content to never get cast in another forum cast again if I get this...lol...even though no matter what I will still audition...you all know what I mean. =]

Why you deserve this role: - I love this character...The over-the-top diva who essentially condemns herself when she refuses to go on, and Christine takes her place. I think I'd do a lovely job pulling off the bitchy, overly dramatic primma donna. Carlotta's role in the show, I think, is to contrast and foil Christine...She is everything that Christine isn't...I'm definitely anti-ingenue.

I know I physically don't fit what the role generally looks like, but I do kinda look like your stereotypical fat soprano...and I think that my over-confident, take-over kind of presense would contrast well against the shy, and innocent Christine.

Why: I often play older women on stage. I'm tall, have studied ballet, and would be able to play a retired dancer/teacher with finesse. I think that her character has much more depth than the stern instructor often portrayed in the stage show. I like how the movie dove deeper into her background and brought out the special relationship she may have with the Phantom. I love that she is the one who has The Notes. I have studied French and could do the accent quite well. Of course, I am also an excellent singer and have the knowledge and experience of when to bring out a line and when to blend in, which is useful for so many of the songs she is in (where everyone is sort of singing together but overlapping).

Why you deserve this role: 1. Lets see my screen name. That's right.
2. Why I love the musical Phantom: This show got me started in musical theater. Nomatter who hates on it at MdN, I will stand up for the beautiful theme and the poser it had to take all of Europe and US by storm. I fell in love with opera through this show too. Singing this music in my voice lessons led me to singing arias, and now I am planning on being a vocal major in college. I swear, all because of this show.
3. I understand Christine. Christine has had so much trouble with male figures in her life. She was so close to her father, and when her father was taken away from her, she tried everyway to hold onto him. When she found a man that somehow brought her fathers spirit back, or was someone sent by her father for her, she let herself get swept away. When she learned that he was not a perfect angel, but rather a dark, scarred human being, she became utterly confused. And so on. I could continue on this girls story for hours. I have spent times just imagining I was her. *Sigh*
4. I would like to gently admit that I hold a lovely high E.

reasons: Let's see...I am an expert on unrequited love, so I can totally relate to the Phantom. I've been rejected by many girls in my life, so it is very easy for me to channel his feelings. I've also been told that if I ever did play the Phantom, I would never have to wear makeup, because I'm ugly enough as it is. I sang All I Ask of You with another guy. I'm 6 feet tall and lanky. I may not have the range to sing the part, but that's not a requirement right? I love tragic heroes because they are usually the deepest characters in a story, and the Phantom is my favorite.

I love the flamboyant character as it’s such a fun role to get right into, a little over the top but still real [ the top D’s are a thrill to sing too!]. At my age I’m past the days of wanting to play the ‘precious little ingénue’ [do you see what I did there?] so Christine is not for me and I want to be the Prima Donna, first lady of the stage!
