From the Casting Director:

First of all, I wish to thank the members of the CATS Forum for participating in the January 2008 Casting. This was my first attempt to be the Casting Director, and I especially thank everyone for their patience with me, those who have aided me, and those who have corrected me… As MsJellicle had complained... er, indicated, doing this was difficult work…

Because of the light “turnout” of the voters, the casting was NOT an easy process. We only had 13 ballots submitted with a total of 64 names for 36 roles. As a result, we only had clear-cut winners in one-third of the roles. For the remainder, most of the roles required some frightful maneuvering. For three roles (Admetus, George and Victor), the results came out in 10, 10 and 12 votes – all WITHOUT anyone receiving more than one vote…

In the case of these three roles, the ruling states that we should then have 10 Admetuses (Admeti?), 10 Georges and 12 Victors – my literary nightmare come to life… To solve this conundrum, I employed a methodology that might be used in actual castings. For each role, I selected the member with the most TOTAL votes in the ballots as the winner of the role. The Understudies were likewise chosen – second-most TOTAL votes, third-most, etc. I felt that this method was more fair than simple random selection… After consultation with the past casting directors, this list is now OFFICIAL...

My congratulations to everyone – especially to those who submitted their ballots.

For those wondering along with The Drama Queen, here are the general rules for CATS Forum Casting:

1 ) Casting usually begins JANUARY 1st and JULY 1st.

2 ) Unless otherwise noted in the LIST Thread, the CUTOFF Dates are usually JANUARY 14th and JULY 14th. This allows two weeks for people to put their "resumes" and auditions out, make up their lists, and submit them. It also allows the Casting Director to look over submitted Lists.

3 ) Once the cutoff date is reached, that ends the List submissions...

I know that not everyone checks in every day, once or twice a week, whatever... I hope this note might help to place a reminder.

NEXT CASTING IS JULY 1, 2008...
