Hello all
I am pleased to say that I got approval to run a Cabaret forum cast..woohoo!

Rules

1.The auditions will go from (today) October 19th through Monday
October 27th. Voting will go on from the 27th and the list will be posted November 1st.

2. To audition, please include:
a.)Username
b.)List of characters you are auditioning for and a brief description of why you would like to play that character
c.)Picture(s) of yourself (Not mandatory, but it certainly helps)
d.)Anything else you want to include about yourself videos...whatever your little heart desires.

3. You can audition for more than one character.

4. No cross-gender auditioning. I may make some exceptions for the Kit Kat boys and girls.

5. When voting, I will allow you to vote for yourself.

6. Please vote for ALL the characters.

7. Please vote for only one character per person.

8. The person with the most votes wins. Votes should be pmed to me. Or you may aim them to me as well. AIM=altolullaby89

9. In the event of a tie, I will draw from a hat. However, if it's a tie, and one of the person in the tie has won the role, I will give that role to the other person in the tie.

10. If a person wins for multiple roles, I will select from a hat which role he will get, and then the second place finishers in the other roles will be cast.

11. You do not have to audition to vote. So I encourage everyone to vote!!

12. The understudies will be the runner-ups for the roles.

Auditioning for: Emcee, Cliff.

I am predominately interested in the Emcee. And here's why.

1) My canon of sexy male vamp roles goes back to when I was in high school. My first sex-symbol role was when I was fourteen, my first public striptease was at the age of sixteen, and I did my first explicit onstage sex scene when I was seventeen. Since then, I have become known for such antics in the theatre circuits I run with. It's actually become a trademark that audiences wait for me to reference, then applaud when I follow through with it. A review once referred to me as "masculinity's answer to Mae West."

2) The role of the emcee is unlike most in that it is separate from the rest of the cast, functioning as a commentator and at times almost narrating. This kind of role is not something everyone is good at, but I believe I have proven myself adept at this convention; an example is that I have played Gabby in "Daughter of Zion."

3) Besides having the above mentioned copius experience in the aspects of the role that make it more demanding than everyone is necessarily equipped for right out of the box, I also easily have the standard goods the role calls for. I am a legit-voiced tenor with a range of bottom E to top B, and am frequently the most competent male dancer in a cast. Of course, I have always said that acting should come first, even in vocally-demanding, dance-intensive roles such as the Emcee...and I have always considered myself an actor even before my considerable skills as a singer and dancer.

However, I am also willing to accept Cliff. Although my talents would best be applied to the Emcee, I am certainly more than capable of handling the more serious and subtle role of Cliff. I can also relate to him, because I do make my living as a writer in real life. At a mere twenty-one years of age, I personally consider myself a little younger than would be ideal for the role, however I am perfectly able to play up to the age of thirty if need be, and it certainly would not be the first time I've taken a role older than my specialty and come through just fine. I find that it's usually easier to cast older and play younger, but if Madame Director sees fit to deviate from that in this case, I would not disappoint her.

Additionally, I would consider accepting the role of a Kit Kat boy, as long as those cast in the roles of the Emcee and Cliff were really more appropriate for them than I. Let it be said, though, that I am not in the habit anymore of taking bit parts, and I would only consider doing so under exceptional circumstances. Cards on the table here.

Roles: Helga! Really, I just want to be a Kit Kat girl, but I feel especially attatched to Helga- when my school did 'Wilkommen' in a musical revue, I was Helga. I loved it. Plus, they do say that she's 'the baby,' and I am teeny-tiny and young looking (I'm 19 years old playing a 13 year old!) All in all...I just really love the part.

Hello!
I'd like to audition for Sally Bowles. I don't know a ton about the show, but from what I've seen in the movie, and heard from the soundtrack, I would play this role very very well. Ever since I hit puberty, I've been type cast as the sexy character. It's the type of role that works really well for me. The downside to this is that a lot of these characters are portrayed as emotionally shallow or dumb. I try to find depth in every character I play, but Sally is truly a multi-dimensional character with so many facets to her. She has her reasons for working at the Cabaret, for choosing to portray herself sexily. And she goes through a lot throughout the show, which makes her sensuality that much more understandable.
From a more technical standpoint, the part is really vocally right for me. The low notes in "Maybe This Time" are really a strength for me and I've been told that when I sing low, I could break someone's heart.

Characters I Am Auditioning For
-Sally Bowles: Firstly, Sally is around nineteen years old. I am nearly the same age (my "age range" is from eighteen on up). I love her character and she would be very, very interesting to play. Also, it would be a challenge to play her. I like challenges. I'm very free-spirited and have no qualms about doing things differently than society suggests. My voice is really good for Sally, too. I have a rich lower range and an extensive belt range which would be good for numbers like "Don't Tell Mama" and "Cabaret".
- Any of the Kit Kat Girls or Fraulein Kost would be great too. Kit Kat girls because I am a good dancer and I'm very uninhibited onstage. Playing a seedy cabaret dancer wouldn't faze me a bit. And Fraulein Kost because "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" is a great song!

Characters: Emcee, yes everybody wants this one . Emcee is the one role i would die to play above all others, unfortunatly an opportunity has not, as of yet, presented itself (except when our teacher isn't there in drama and we put on the music and dance around ). I have past experience playing fun, overtly sexual characters and i think i have that playful quality, and i understand and have studied the brechtian devices and other non-naturalistic elements used in his character, and his overall role in the show. I have twelve years dance training and have been (not to be full of myself, but this is audition, lol) the most compitent male and perhaps overall dancer in the shows i've been in and i have the vocal range to sing his part. Most of all this is a role i would have such a thrill and such a great time playing.

Any Kit Kat Boy, preferably Bobby but i'd still love Victor or Herman, same reasons as above, and i'd have a blast.

The Gorilla because who doesn't want to do that fun little dance?

Why you should vote for me: On these forum casts I never really speak out for a certain role with the exception of the les mis forum cast where I wanted the factory girl. I absolutely adore this show!
To be Sally would be so fabulous! It's such a horrible misconception for people to look at me and automatically cast me as the ingenue. (Dorothy, Hope, Sandy) This is the kind of role that if I was given the chance, I could really play it up. I've been dancing for 14 years now with skill in jazz and tap. My crap audios of me singing are on the bottom of my page. As for this, I'll put up a recording of me singing "Maybe this time."
As for Lulu, out of all the kit kat girl, I am always attached to her. It might be because I saw a good friend of mine play her once but the part always sticks out to me. And my reasons are the same as for sally.

I am very loyal to this site, and I really hope you guys give me the oppurtunity to virtually play this role (and make a kickass banner)!!

Characters:
Fraulein Kost; I love her sense of humour and her rough yet loveable personality. Not to mention her quest for sailors. My vocal range fits hers almost exactly, and I can sing very well with an accent. (I have a ridiculously embarrassing video of me singing "When You Got It Flaunt It" that - despite being embarrassing - shows off my singing with an accent skills). Also, I can play the accordion.
Fritzie; she's my favourite Kit Kat girl. And most of the time she doubles as Fraulein Kost. I can do her little squat quite well, too.
Sally Bowles; this has been a dream role of mine. Sally is such a interesting character to me, behind that party girl exterior lies a truly sad and broken individual. There's an uncertainity about her which I think I could bring out. But I could also capture the crazy, wild, bohemian side of her too. Not to mention I do an amazing English accent and I have a very strong belt.

Texas, LuLu Most people on mdn know that I have no shame, and no problem playing a sexy or provacative character. I am currently playing Babette in BATB and Marty in Grease. Two characters which I would define as sexy in some shape or form...which is what the Kit Kat dancers are all about! I am blonde, short, and have an hour-glass figure. I would describe myself as fierce, fun and bubbly I have lots of dance experience, mainly in tap, but I've learned to tango in BATB as well. So basically, I can pick up on most choreography quickly. Not to mention it is one of my dreams to perform as a Kit Kat girl in Wilkommen!

On a not as topical note, I am a writer myself, so I can sympathize with the quest for inspiration with my work and sometimes how hard it can be. But on a more relatable note, I can understand some the emotional factors that he faces, while not directly in his circumstances, I've felt with the ups and downs of love life, and having the world seemingly turn against you at times.


Herr Schultz:
While obviously I don't have quite the age for Herr Schultz, I too am often at times a simple guy trying to just make it through this world, and I think of things in a very content sense and try to see things through for the better. Plus I also like to try to cheer people up, like he will at times.

Okay, this is my first forum audition so please be kind.

Vitals: 5'2", brown hair, brown eyes, athletic build. Technically, I think my coach says I am a mezzo, but I have a freakishly low range as well.
Role Desired: Sally Bowles
Why: Sally is an unique combination of emotions. She's part starry-eyed girl, part woman. She's brash, spontaneous, and flirty. She calls her lifestyle "divine decadence" not realizing how shallow it may seem to others. She grows throughout the show and becomes conscious of who she is and her situation. She makes her choices with full knowledge of the possible outcomes, which is a first for her. I would so love to play this part. In my past shows, I've played characters with shades of Sally. To get the chance (even a pseudo-pretend chance) to play Sally and explore all her facets would be a dream come true.
Other reason why: I was a professional dancer, so the dance part of this role doesn't scare me. I have studied Luigi jazz technique (Luigi trained Liza in jazz technique) since I was 10 years old. I know the Fosse style like the back of my hand. As far as singing, I have almost a 5 octave range thanks(and according to) to my new vocal coach. Please give me a chance.

I think that the role of Fraulien Schneider would suit me, because I can imagine myself in her situation. She wasn't looking for love, but she found it. Then in a blink of an eye, made a decision that lost her that love forever, in a situation in which no one could win. I can see myself playing this part really well, even though I am young. Plus, I love pineapple! (Props to whoever gets that reference!)

Nobody has a 5 octave range. What exactly is your range Disney's Beauty? Mine is bottom F (below middle C) to top F above top C (top note in Phantom) - and that's 3 octaves. How can you have a 5 octave range? I hope I don't come across as discouraging but I am seriously interested as to why some people come up with the "5 octave range" comment - as to me that is physically impossible.

I'd like to make a quick clarification on my audition: other than Fraulien Schneider, the only other character I would like to be considered for is Helga. Although Fraulien Schneider is the character I would like to be mainly considered for, Helga is my next choice.
As tradition states, I'll post a little blurb on why I would like to be considered for Helga as well: Helga suits me quite a bit. She's young and flirty, the baby of the gang. So am I, at least in one of the circles of friends that I hang out with. Also, I think I very much look the part and the part would also hilight my often-forgotten dance skills!
