The MT dictionary

Not to be confused with an actual Musical Theatre dictionary, which may prove informative, this is a blogspot somebody made with lots of MT slang. Annoying MT slang sometimes. But I think it's amusing anyway.

I think these are funny:
Kick-Your-Face-verb- A command in which a nondancer orders a dancer of extreme flexibility to grand battement for their enjoyment. Completely gratuitous, but incredibly worth it.
Lawrence: Taylor, kick your face.
(She does so.)
Lawrence: [elated]Yesssssssss.

[tos]-y-adjective- The cult following of the short-lived, but brills and completely original Broadway musical [title of show]. Describes MT behaviour that is deliciously self-referential, knowledgeable, and quippy. [tos]-ers speak with rapid fire pace and usually have an extensive knowledge of short-lived and obscure musicals (i.e. Drat the Cat, Prettybelle, Dear Edwina, and Marylin: A Fable)
Matt: I got seventeen new playbills at the Broadway Flea Market yesterday. I even got Barbra's debut playbill from I Can Get it for You Wholesale.
Kathryn: That was so unbelievably [tos]-y, I think you just got Susan Blackwell preggers.

Rolling Eyes Thoughts?

I'm always amazed the people who have time to create these things...wow.

I think it's hilarious! Love it.

The use of expressions like "brills" and "totes" is so pathetic. It shows that the person is socially inept, but maybe no one will notice if they throw around as much trendy slang as possible.

"Brills" and "totes" are the kinds of words that Hunter and Jeff would use, even if in a tounge-in-cheek way.

No, not at all...... Rolling Eyes

I think the MT dictionary is pretty spot on for the MOST part, but a lot of it is the author's OWN interpretations etc. It makes for a funny read though!

I dunno. I don't think I've once used "brills" or "totes." I just don't see the point. It is a fun read though.
