The most FUN I could have at the theatre...So a whole whack of touring shows are coming to Edmonton. I'm not sure which one to pick. I'd like to go to have fun this time, not to ponder deep meanings. I can pick two of these shows to see (since the tix are $90+ dollars, and I'm poor). They are:
*CATS
STOMP
*Hairspray
Monty Python's Spamalot
* indicates I have seen them on Broadway or on tour (CATS tour, Hrspry Broadway)
Which do you think would be best? Annie is also coming, but... well, no. It's been a long time since I've seen CATS which is pretty amazing as long as I'm just there to have fun. I saw Hairspray last Sept on Broadway, and I really loved it and I would like to see it again. I have never seen STOMP, and it REALLY interests me. I know nothing about Spamalot- I've heard a few songs and loved them, but that's about all.
I would be seeing these shows through school, so I'd be with all of my school friends. The more fun, the better. They don't know too too much about theatre, but it is a drama group.
So... help me out!

Well I mean, I do appreciate the kind of show where you discover something new and exciting every time you see it. It's so cool! But sometimes ya just gotta see fluff!

Is it really?
Did you see it?
Do you know how it is compared to the Broadway production? It was amazing...

Yes.
Yes.
Very poorly.

Can you... expand on that at all? Specifics?

-Generally talentless cast
-Cheap production values
-Nothing really stands out
-Poor re-make of Jerry's choreography
-Just VERY poor quality.

Spamalot. Definitely.

Kids from school would love Spamalot. As Matt said, the Hairspray tour stinks. And I adored Stomp on Broadway for pure mind numbing fun

Okay I have seen all of those live except Hairspray. But I love Hairspray. I would say definitely not Cats, because I don't think it's fun at all. But many would disagree.
Stomp and Spamalot are both insanely fun. Although if you want to laugh-a-lot then see Spamalot

I haven't seen it but I bet the Hairspray tour is non-equity, right? Apart from the poor cast and lackluster production values, I bet....nevermind.
*restrains self from yet another orchestra rant*

I was going to say Hairspray, but it sounds like the tour is crap, and you wouldn't want that to spoil it for you.
Definitely Spamalot.

I'd see Hairspray. Although the tour had to cancel their stop near me in March.
I just like it more than the other shows you mentioned.

I LOVED stomp last year when I saw the tour. It's sooo fun. There was lots of audience participation where they have everyone clap a certain beat and stuff. The skits are funny too, and I think it's cool that even without a single word, you laugh alot. Atleast I did. You should see it if you have the chance.
