The Lion

This isn't really a question as much as a thought I just had that I wanted to share. During "March of the Witch Hunters" when Boq AKA Tin Man is doing his speech he brings up what Elphaba did to the Lion but here's what I realized, if Animals became like a discriminated group (due to the Wizards' plans to create a unified enemy), why in the hell would anybody including Boq give a damn about how the Lion was wronged. I know Im really over-analyzing this but It was just a thought.

Any other thoughts?

Well, I'm in the middle of the book right now, and I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but isn't Boq in on it? I think he helps Elphaba rescue it. But I haven't gotten that far in the book, so I don't really know.
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast

Lets be honest its one of many BIG plot holes in the show.

Within the musical, I really don't think it says whether or not Boq is against or for Animals. At this point in the plot, I believe Boq and the witch hunters are looking for anything they can find against Elphaba to be mad at her.

Timmy_Wishes he was Quast, what kind of plot holes do you think Wicked has Question
Leeta

********************SPOILER*************

How is the is a "big" plot hole?

In the play, Boq has no involvement with the freeing of the lion cub.

Remember..Boq was a Munckinlander before he was "turned" to tin. They were already somewhat oppressed people...looked down upon. Remember how rude Galinda is to him in the beginning.? During the scene where Elphie enables Nessa to walk, Boq reveals that she has further oppressed the munchkins who "didn't have very many rights to begin with."

He is aligning himself with the lion because he too has been discriminated against. Just because he didn't stand up to the Wizard like Elphaba, doesn't mean that he agreed with the discrimination.

PEace!

Totally forgot about that, Leeta! Nice! Very Happy

That's what I was thinking as well. No one really cares what she did to who, just that they can label it as "wrong" or "wicked."
Monsieur D'Arque

It's a double standard. Wicked would be about double standards and moral equivalency, if it were performed and analyzed intelligently. But it's the chicken joke all over again.

There are plot holes in almost every musical out there, but I don't really think this is one.

Besides not everyone is fully aware of the Wizard's intent. The whole reason they are after Elphaba and even Dr. Dillamond is to keep them from talking.

and anyway I agree with the point that they don't care what she did or WHO she did it to as long as they can hold it up as an example of how wicked she is.

I'm not sure that I understand your point here in the discussion. The only ones after Elphaba to keep her from talking are Madame Morrible, possibly the Emerald City guards and The Wizard himself. The Witch Hunters are regular Ozians who the truth is being kept from.

I think what she's saying is that no one really knows that the Wizard is behind the anti-Animal activity except for Elphaba, Glinda, Morrible, and the Wizard himself... so others probably don't really see Animals as a threat.
