The Last Five Years!

So..I have a good male friend of mine who will be a senior next year...and we decided that we wanted to co-direct/star in The Last Five Years as a performance project for school!...he's a tenor/baritone and I'm a soprano w/ a strong mezzo range and good mix/ok belt....we are also good actors....if anyone had any idea of the cost of the rights or suggestions as to whether or not this is a good idea please let me know! Thanks...also if anyone knows where i can find a copy of the script/score/music that'd be great! ...we will probably be doing it in about a year..so we have a lot of time!...thanks again!

try www.mtishows.com

Once you order the rights, they'll send you all the scripts/score/music.

I think it's a bit odd that you're directing and acting in your own production, but that's just me.
lolliball91

who would play the piano part and stuff for it ?
JRB is ridiculously hard piano..you'd have to find someone willing to put a lot of time into it.

I think cool you're wanting to try your own show - not weird at all. That's what cabarets usually are, after all...people who star and direct in one show. Even if you can't find a pianist to play for you, you can get some great midi files.

Good luck!

Yeah, but that's professional. This is high school. I'd do it if I could, but that's too much work.

Am I the only person who finds making MIDI files fun?!

I am going to see L5Y on Saturday - I'm so excited! I have been hearing great things about the show, and this production!

Midi files= ew.
Jason Robert Brown on midi files= even more ew.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, I think this show is out of the emotional reach of most high-schoolers.
Also...what's a tenor/baritone...? Isn't that just a huge umbrella term that means..."has a male voice"?

You have forgotten another "male" voice - the bass...

A "tenor/baritone" can be viewed as either a tenor with an extended low range or a baritone with an extended high range. In HS, I was defined as a baritone with an extended low range - meaning I could sing into the bass range easier than other baritones.

I meant making them, not listening to/using them!!

I'm sorry, JRB writes some decent tunes...but his shows are terribly dull over hyped and simply do not sell.
