The Last Five Years

Hey folks, I know this isn't a current show, but does anyone know where I might be able to find a copy of the full score? I have the vocal selections, but its missing some important pieces (mostly notably see I'm smiling) and I'd love to get my hands on the whole piece.
Anybody done the show, or know someone who has, that might be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

B

it is a current show... the chocolate factory, london

Ah but it's not a current show on Broadway Wink

Current Broadway and West End Shows--the Chocolate Factory is the West End, no?

I suggest trying to find the missing songs on a sheet music website or in sheet music compiltions. The only way to get the FULL score is through being in the show. Even still, you have to mail it back to the publisher when the show closes.

im seeing it in 2 weeks! so excited!!!

There's a book of vocal selections from the show. The only things I could spot that were missing were "I Could Never Rescue You" and "When You Come Home to Me".

If you want the song "See I'm smiling" it's in one of the Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology books. I am fairly certain it's the mezzo/belter volume 4. I'm not at home right now otherwise I would check for sure.

When You Come Home to me is in there. Its listed as When You Come Home To Me/Climbing Uphill.

See I'm Smiling isn't in there and I think one other. I just shipped most of my theatre books back home so I'm not sure off hand.

I was wondering.....for those of you who have seen the show, or know a lot about it, is the entire show only the songs? Or are there scenes between Jaime and Cathy..or some monologues??

There are a few lines and bits of dialogue, but the show is mostly music. It's a song-cycle.

how annoying are the vocal selections! all i wanted was "a miracle would happen' and it wasn't included. anybody know where i can get it?

I would suggest looking up the Singer's Musical Theatre Anthologies for the male voice types, it may be in one of those. I know See I'm Smiling wasn't included in the vocal selections, however it was in the Singers Musical Theatre Anthology Vol. 4 for Mezzo/Alto belter.

So check the newer volumes for the male voice parts and see if its there.

Actually I just checked Jason Robert Brown's website and he says the reason that song was left out of the vocal selections as well as some others were the fear of illegal productions popping up all over, as the show is all music.

To make a long story short, this song has yet to be released publically by Brown and the only way to get a hold of it is to find someone who has the entire score due to being in a production.

And good on him for doing so, says I. Every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to be in that show. It's very likely that illegal shows are already being done.

See I'm Smiling is in the JRB collection (that big orange book full of musical joy). Mr. Green
