The Greatest Actors and Actresses of Old HollywoodAudrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Angela Lansbury, Robert Redford(he's sort of old Hollywood), Shirley Jones, Robert Preston, Bette Davis, George Sanders, and Humphrey Bogart just to name a few...
How about you guys? Who are your favourite old Hollywood actors and actresses?

Now here's a difference in perception based on age...I would never consider Audrey Hepburn, Robert Redford, Shirley Jones or Robert Preston in the same category as:
Ronald Colman. Lionel Barrymore. Greta Garbo. Gary Cooper. Barbara Stanwyck. William Powell. James Cagney. Jimmy Stewart. Henry Fonda. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Myrna Loy. John Wayne. Maureen O'Hara. Clark Gable. Jennifer Jones. Mickey Rooney. Jane Powell. Judy Garland.
I could ramble on forever. In my (humble and old) opinion, "Old" Hollywood means The Golden Age of Hollywood. Most actors came out of the studio system, and the ones who became stars often did it in spite of the material given.

Marlon Brando (really fabulous, powerful actor)
Katharine Hepburn
Judy Garland
Vivien Leigh
Gene Kelly (mostly for his dancing, although his acting wasn't bad in Inherit the Wind)
Frank Sinatra (not a terribly good actor, melty-chocolate voice)
Dustin Hoffman
Robert Redford
Jeremy Brett
Gregory Peck! (sometimes a little bit wooden, but my god was he nice to look at)
Fred Astaire
Ingrid Bergman
Debbie Reynolds
Rita Moreno
Jimmy Stewart

Can't forget Peter O'Toole either, although his career didn't really begin until the sixties, but I guess, if we can say Robert Redford...

I do wish I could mention Dame Julie Andrews, as she gave some marvellous performances in the films and film musicals she starred in.

^^Agreed.
Thanks for mentioning Claude Rains, Salome. One of my favorites! Bogart takes the top spot as my favorite but I also love Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant. As for ladies, I loooove Greta Garbo. I don't know why--she's just so much fun to watch. Two words: Grand Hotel. One of the greatest movies ever made!

I'm related to her very closely...she would be my great-great-aunt, I believe...something along those lines?
But I'm just related to her by marriage, but related to her hubby by blood. Points for whoever knows!

Vincent Price was great at anything and everything because he was so unique and just...guh. I can't believe he died before I realized he even existed.
