the Good Vibes threadThere might be another one of these floating around, but what the heck. I'm too lazy to look.
Upcoming audition? Post it here! And don't forget to update the results! It might be fun to post about your audition experience as well, like what you wore, what you sang, how many people were there, if the director said anything interesting, etc.
I have an upcoming audition on saturday Oct 20 for Cinderella. Still debating between songs and attire.

Ooo! Break a leg.
Is this the professional theatre you talked about a while back (ahh I hope that was you...I'm pretty sure it was...you auditioned for a play there earlier?) Anyway, regardless. Do amazing and knock them dead!!
What songs are you contemplating?

Danke!! Yes, that was me.
I was going to go with "If I Loved you" because I could sing it in my sleep, but recently came across "The Last time I Saw Paris" and really like it, and have recently nailed down the notes and lyrics, but am no where near as comfortable with performing it as the other one. But the Carousel song seems kinda... boring. I dunno.. ?
Thanks for asking!

Seriously, nobody else had any auditions this week?
Well, mine were yesterday, and I think it went well, I'm not sure.
The director remembered me from when I auditioned there about 2 months ago. I was surprised. I sang "If I Loved You", I thought I sang it very well, had good facial expressions and emotion in the song. It was weird though, because the director was sitting like 5 ft. away from me. Since they have a show going on right now, auditions were done in an alcove backstage where the piano was being stored, and the director sat on a little couch in front of me. When I was done, he said "Very nice, thank you. Well, that's all we need, short and sweet." I was a little miffed that I didn't get to read, but....?. Oh, and BTW, the accompanist was also the asst. director who I also read with last time.?? He sort of tripped along in playing, and I had to sort of pretend he wasn't there and forge ahead sometimes. Well on my way out the AD said, "Oh, yes, Angela! I remember you now. You live in ___?" I said no, in _____( different but close town). and the director piped in with "Yes, and her husbands a preacher up there." I said, wow, you have a good memory! the director said "Well, it's my job, remembering all the details."
so, that's my story. I'm not sure if it was good or not. Since I did read for them before, maybe they didn't need to hear me? Or maybe they decided halfway through the song that I wasn't going to be cast, I have no idea. I hope to find out this week sometime (as they only have til the middle of November to put the show together!!!)

Maybe they decided "well, her song was so great, we don't need to hear her read!"
I have an audition tomorrow (Beauty and the Beast). I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

No, no auditions this week. I'm hanging around here because I am planning to audition for a community theatre production in July 2008.
A mid-november show will come up very fast! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I don't think I posted that I was going to audition for this, but I just found out my results for my auditions for my state's TMEA regional choir yesterday. I made second alternate! <33 So out of 76 2nd Altos I was ranked about 17th!!! I was so not expecting this!

On Wednesday I have the initial audition for Bye Bye Birdie. I am singing Why can't you behave from Kiss Me Kate. On Monday there will be callbacks. The cast list will go up sometime next week. I am excited and sad because this is my senior show in high school.

I just had auditions for my studio's production of The Nutcracker, which was really nerve-racking because I'm a sophomore and this would probably be my first Nutcracker solo--I got the Dew Drop Fairy!! Which is a really big role for a sophomore so I am sooooooooooooooooo excited!

Just got back from my Beauty and the Beast audition!
Singing: The girls had to sing Belle (Reprise), and the guys were singing Gaston. They didn't actually teach the song, we just heard it a few times and were told to sing (luckily I already knew it!). I think I did really, really well on the singing, I was one of the only people that got to sing to the end of the song.
Dancing: It was a section of Be Our Guest, starting at "Course by course, one by one...". It was very fast paced, but not that difficult step-wise. When we were rehearsing it, I was having some problems, but as soon as we got on stage, it just "clicked", and the only thing I forgot was to put my arms out in one section.
Acting: (my weakest point...) Read for Mrs. Potts. The scene only had 3 lines for me, so I can't really judge how well I did. Then read for Belle. Overall, I think it went pretty good.
So, there it is! I find out tomrrow morning about callbacks, and the cast list is up on Friday

Got a callback!
It's a dance callback, but that's fine with me. I'd be more excited if I didn't have the stupid brace on my foot...
Anywho, callbacks on Thursday, cast list up on Friday.

Lol!! That's ok! It was good though!
Thank you so much! The double posting one cracks me up to no end!! I have some friend who seem to live by it, Haha. That Corinthians verse is one of my favorites! And I really think it applies to Musical Theatre for me.
I (Probably) have auditions for Damn Yankee on Nov. the 17th.

Oh, I want to know all about your Damn Yankees audition. What are you going to sing, and are you going for a specific role?
I just ordered the DVD and CD from Amazon, but I watched a ton of YouTube videos to get a basic familiarity with the show.
For me, I'm trying to decide if I should focus in on Meg, Lola or Gloria, or just leave it wide open. My audition isn't until next year, so I'm casually studying the show and thinking about my audition approach. I want to lose weight and get in better shape to dance for the show.

^Break a Leg with the Damn Yankees audition!
I'm auditioning for The Crucible on December 4th, so I have a long time. I hope to be Elizabeth Proctor though.

Well, I never heard back from the theater so I was not cast. they open next week though. I am anxious to see the production and maybe figure out why I was not cast. Like, was it politics (maybe everyone in the show has worked there 10 times before and they won out over a newbie) or is everyone there really SO FAR above me in talent that I had no chance?
We shall see.
How is everyone else's auditions going? Any cast lists up?

Okay, so I am bumping this thread because I need all of the good vibes I can get. Tomorrow at 11:00 am, I have an audition for the biggest show of the year. This year the production is Singin' In The Rain, I know not the best musical, but I am a dancer first, and this is a dance intesive show.
Please, please, please, send as many good vibes as you can spare my way!
Thanks bunches!

Audition for Singin' In The Rain went really well. I only had one minor glitch with the accompanist. She's a friend of mine and fully admitted to the panel that she messed up my song. She started over 3 times before I attempted singing. On the 4th she still messed it up, but I more than made up for it on the chorus. The dancing portion is always easy for me. The panel had me read for Zelda (Lina's BFF), Lina, and Kathy. They only had 2 of us(out of a group of 7) read for Kathy. Then they asked us if we can tap; I said yes and the other girl said no.
I still am keeping my hopes in check as there were over 75 people auditioning, and they're only using 40 people. I know that there were quite a few amazing singers but I don't know if there were other amazing dancers, so I'll just have to wait and see. Either way, I'll know by Nov 30. I hate the wait!
Keep fingers crossed!

Okay, got an e-mail today. I have a callback for Zelda (Lina's BFF). I am hopeful that they will let me read for Kathy one more time, but I have a feeling that they want someone younger. My call-back is Dec 8: Here's to hoping! Please send me good vibes!!
