The End Song

Okay, I just saw the show for the first time, though I've had the Cd for a few years now...........................am I the only one who thinks 'Sacred Bird' is a MUCH better song and should have been kept?
Claire L

Agreed.
Colle

What are the words to "Sacred Bird?" I only have the high lights of the OLC.
Colle

Never mind my last post. I have now heard both endings, and I like both of them. I can't decide which one I like better.
Pianoforte

I am a BIG fan of the show but I have to admit that SACRED BIRD isn't one of my favourites. I prefer the other one. I certainly do.
(Or they should have written SACRED BIRD with a more captivating melody such as PLEASE, for example)

Eponine Poe

Does anybody know where I can get a recording of 'Sacred Bird'? I've never heard it.

The Original London Cast.

Sacred Bird is a great song, I think it should have been left in. I especially love the bit with 'Its your turn to know you father's love'

I was wondering that too. I don't know the show very well but have the full symphonic CD. I assume its not on that.

What is the song about? Is the sentiment the same or has the story/tone changed at all?

It's only on the OLC-it was cut after that. PM me and I can give you an mp3 of it to listen to, should you be interested.

It's really not all that different from the current version. All three English-language finales have been pretty much the same in story and tone. This one just incorporates Vietnamese mythology.

if you can, would you email it to me at UACTheatre@aol.com?

Thank you!

I wouldn't mind a copy of Little God of My Heart either, if anyone's willing. My email is catwoman1683@yahoo.co.uk

I have 'Too Much For One Heart' to trade, if you want that.

Thanks. Wink

I Definitely perfer Sacred Bird-however I do like both endings. I heard a rumor (it may not be true-but then again it might be...lol) about why they don't use that song anymore- It's basically a song about commiting suicide if you rally listen to the lyrics (obviously there are more messages too-but this is the part I'm concentrating on now) and several people who committed suicide have said (in suicide notes) that this song really spoke to them when they were thinking of suicide. So they ended up changing it around a little so it wouldn't cause such a problem. Does anyone know if that's actually what happened? Because I can't think of too many other reasons to change such a beautiful and tear-jerking song.

I only have the OLC and didn't know "The Sacred Bird" was replaced. That's a bit shocking... what is it replaced with? I've never liked that song very much, mainly because whenever I want to listen to it I have to put the CD in because it skips on my Ipod.

I have to agree there about Please. I almost feel like putting original words to "Please" because its a beautiful melody and I hate that its used as a dialogue song, with not a lot of meaningful lyrics.
