The end in sight for The New London Theatre?Hi
According to Wikipedia the RUG has put the New London up for sale in November 2007 and are looking for offers!
Could the building be demolished/turned into someting else?
If it was to go and they try to sell bits of it off what would you buy?
One thing I found out today there used to be another theatre on the site called the Winter Garden Theatre, the same name as the one in Broadway, what a coincidence!
If it was to go, then a sad goodby you will be missed
Fav things for the New London -for me that is...
Seeing Cats on its 10th birthday and singing the cats happy birthday.
Meeting Veerley Casterlyn at the stage door, my first ever Cats actor meeting.
Seeing the last afternoon show ever!
Seeing the set ripped out and trying to think if I stole anything would they notice or care!
The one hundred autographs I managed to collect from the stage door over the years.
As part of my job picking up the days takings from the theatre whilst Cats was playing.

Hi
Some more details, the 101 year old lease of the site of the New London Theatre is up for sale. It is not a listed building, and could be redeveloped, but it can only be done as a theatre of some sort, tv studio, or other types of theatre. Camden Council is probably not going to grant planning permission to a change of use for the site.
So a theatre it will still be.
The RUG is concertraiting on its musical theatres, the New London is a playhouse. The RSC, Royal Shakespeare Company did have an interest in the site, but are spending thier money on thier site in Stratford upon Avon.
