see if you have a gong/chinese cymbal effect on your synth pad and then distort it (either slow it down or bend the pitch or both). As far as i know the caterwaul effect was created specifically for the Show aso you wont find it anywhere else, but the cymbal comes pretty darn close.You have to play around with it though as the sound in the Ball is slightly different than the sound in the overture.
other wise you could always try to run the Soundtrack through your computer and single out the sound and add it to a disc for in your keyboards (im sure there are some technoboffs around that know how to do that)
