Tell me about Carbucketty

Well, after a 4 hour callback, I've been cast as Carbucketty. I'll probably accept but I 'd like a bit more info.

First off, I'm a girl. And a soprano.

There's also a Pouncival in the chorus (a tumbler), so they are NOT the same character in our show.

On the cast breakdown it says I have at least a small solo or duet so I'm trying to figure out where. I have the DVD which isn't helping much at the moment.

HELP!

You'll probably have a line or two in 'Jellicle Songs' and the Ball as you're basically playing a chorus character/dancer. There's really no singing part for Carbucketty, so...

Completely O/T, is anyone else having problems w/m.net's formatting? It's not the nice, clean board it was. It sticks everything in columns, even though the screen width is the same, and generally looks strange. I've tried cleaning out my cache, cookies, the whole 9 and nothing changes this. Any ideas? Confused

It's not your computer, it's MdN. This problem is happening for everyone right now. Confused Smile

Anyone else have any more specifics?

I have to give an answer by this evening.

It's really hard to know what your role will be like, since the character has been split off from another one(and I'd bet that your Pouncival will probably cover most of what that character normally does in terms of choreography, since he's a tumbler and a male). As darkmage said, it'll probably be mainly a chorus role with a solo line or two in the ensemble songs(Jellicle Songs and The Jellicle Ball). Beyond that you'll probably be a chorus cat, but I don't really know because it's really up to your director what the character does and where she is. She may have lines normally given to other characters, but she may not.

What color shall I be?

On the "plus" side, I get to pick what color unitard I want (anything other than black. Well, and I suppose blue.)
Belle

Well, Carbucketty's usually a bi-colour Tabby and white... ask for that and see your wardrobe dept flinch! Smile

Since I"m a girl, I'm not going to look like the traditional coloring anyway lol.

Looks like these are my color options. I was hoping for gold or silvery gray, but I haven't been able to find those colors.

That page just gives me unitard options.
opheliarose

Frell.

It's supposed to be showing the Bal-togs mock-neck longsleeve unitard. Black, Suntan, Toast, Blue, Red, and White are the options.
Belle

If you're choosing the colour of your costume, do you get a bit of control over it? Because Lycra is very easy to custom dye a lovely solid colour. The sort of dye where you simmer the item in the dye for 20 minutes?

Are the unitards also going to be painted? If so, get the white!

ooh, I'd love to do the costumes for Cats one day... I have so many ideas...
opheliarose

Not sure about the painting- I hope so! They just told us to look for our "base" costume, and make it "not black" and I'm assuming they're making the rest (though I have a hunch I might end up building my own AND DH's costume.)

I think I'll order the white and the suntan (DH's choice) and see which looks better on me! I'll keep dyeing as an option.

I can't say much except that in my copy of the OBC recording Carbuckety doubles as Genghis in the Growltiger sequence.

Oh, thanks, we're already into rehearsals. I don't do...much.
d'oh!
