Tanz der Vampire scoreHi thereDoes anyone know if it's possible to pick up a copy (online or otherwise) of the music score for "Tanz der Vampire"? Preferably for keyboard/piano, (and for it to be shipped to the UK)? Thanks! ~Forest |

Is that really it? I was looking for an English recording a while back but all I could find were the German recordings...

An OBC recording was initially announced, along with a concept album featuring international artists (a la Steinman/Lloyd Webber's "Songs from Whistle Down the Wind"), to have been released on Interscope Records, headed by Steinman's friend, and former boss/co-producer/mixer, Jimmy Iovine. Of course, when the (badly-rewritten-by-Michael-Crawford-and-David-Ives) show closed after 56 performances and lost $15 million, the recording and a planned tour were scuttled. Demos (produced by Steinman, Steve Rinkoff, and Jeff Bova) are available of songs from the November 2001 rewrite (pre-foul-mouthed bat and sponge), featuring performances by Steve Barton (original European Krolock), favorite Steinman vocalist Elaine Caswell, Marcus Lovett (of WDTW and other shows), Elizabeth Tryon, Karine Hannah, Kyle "Scarpia" Gordon, Starmites author Barry Keating, and others. Other (mostly unreleased) demos recorded by Bono, Bette Midler, Mary J. Blige, Doug Storm, Michael Crawford, Celine Dion, and other stars for the concept album are in the vaults. |

Thanks! I was confused at first glance but now everything makes since between what you have just told me and what Stephen and I talked about last night (we did it in private so as not to clutter the boards...aren't we generous? |

ok...question...should I get the "English Demos" or the "Final Version"?
| Brother Marvin Hinten, S. |
The "final version" is the Broadway show, a version not officially recognized by Jim Steinman, Michael Kunze, or any people connected to the original musical "Tanz der Vampire." If you're really desperate for English lyrics, try the demos, but an authoritative English version has yet to be seen.

Ok thanks. Do you know which is more accurate of the original Tanz der Vampire...I assume that the "English Demo" ones are better than the mock up that Crawford created for Broadway...

The "English demos" are in better shape. There are a few that are very off the mark in this list and more related to the American version, either not appearing in the German version or appearing very little. They're not listed.
