Taking the Mick-a-doo, Princes Hall, Aldershot, UK

The Cody Farnborough Amateur Operatic Society are performing “Taking The Mick-A-Doo” at the Princes Hall, Aldershot, nightly from Monday 21st through to Saturday 26th September (including a Saturday Matinee). This is a brand new update of the Gilbert & Sullivan favourite “The Mikado”, it follows much the same story but has been re-scored and is rather less traditional. It’s a really funny show with some wonderful music and very famous songs – “Three Little Maids”, “I’ve Got a Little List”, “Tit Willow” and many more.

The Mikado has decreed that the act of flirting when 'not connubially linked' is punishable by death. Horrified by this prospect, the townsfolk of Titipu appoint Ko-Ko as the Lord High Executioner - he has been imprisoned for flirting and would be obliged to execute himself before beheading anyone else. Arriving in Titipu, Nanki-Poo is distressed to hear of this new appointment. He has been forced to leave his father's Court to avoid execution due to the unwarranted attentions of Katisha and has come to Titipu to claim Yum-Yum, unaware that she is being forced to marry her guardian – Ko-Ko!

Will Nanki-Poo kill himself? Will Ko-Ko have to find a way to execute himself? Will Yum-Yum and the three little maids be able to stop Katisha from claiming Nanki-Poo? Will the Mikado’s moustache manage to stay on through the whole performance?

Find out all this and more by coming to the show. You can book your tickets online at www.cfaos.co.uk or via the Princes Hall box office on 01252 329155.

It’s going to be a wonderful show with some very untraditional changes musically that give the show renewed vigour. The opening drum number will be worth the price of entry alone!

After a good dress rehearsal and a great reaction from the back stage guys who hadn't seen the show before, we definitely have a show on our hands. Please come along for a great night's entertainment.
