A lot of the songs from J and H (OBC at least) are boring unless sung well. Exceptions: "Confrontation", "This is the Moment", "Alive"......All my opinions are based on the OBC recording.

I didn't think you were bitchy  I want to improve my singing and it's comments like yours that help me improve.
I might post it... But I'll need a backing then... And I'm actually singing it as a solo number.
I do agree that it is a simple (as in simple lyrics and not too much swirls and decoration in it) song, but I still think that it is kind of nice.

i love the songs from jekyll and hyde! i think it's nice to have a show without a lot of complex music in it, so you are forced to focus more upon th words...the words for some of the songs are very thought provoking, such as facade (or however its spelt)

I agree. The first time I heard this musical, I wasn't amazed by it. But when you look at the lyrics, it's really interesting. Also if you've read the book, which I have (not trying to brag, hehe) and it's one of my favorites. The show doesn't totally follow the book but if you have the background, the lyrics might make more sense. But the music really grows on you because it's so simple and beautiful... Especially, as you guys said, if it's performed well.

I think that... although I like the musical very much, most of the songs are really corny... I find that Frank Wildhorn may really have a future in writing bad pop songs

i really do love "someone like you" && several of the other songs
you either love this show or you hate it i suppose :]

I find it difficult, especially for intenation.... the last line 'take me as I am' sung mp was a bugger. That was the hardest song in the show for me... lol weird huh?

haha how true. And I've sang a lot of Frank Wildhorn stuff in my days, not entirely by choice though.
However I do like the lyrics to A New Life and the whole message behind it, which is why I chose to perform it on my senior recital and even used it was the theme of my recital. Which I have a recording of this song if anyone is interested.

..I heard my singing teacher and Martin (Currently starring in promises and lies) do this sing at a concert and it sounded absoulutley brilliant. But then again i heard to of my friends sing it and it was boring. Good Luck though.
On a side note In His Eyes is a marvellous song!

I definitely think that this song makes or breaks the show because Jekyll and Emma must have chemistry and appear to be in love or the song doesn't work. The jekyll can be amazing, but you must have a dominant Emma and vice versa.
