Sweet Charity Audition.Hi, iīm from Mexico City and soon will be auditions for Sweet Charity and need some help. I need to prepare a song for a tenor and the character is like Leo Bloom from The Producers or Mr. Cellophane from Chicago. Do someone know a song with a good vocal range, uptempo for a tenor. Needs to be a funny song. Thank you very much...[/b]

What songs do you currenly know/sing well that fit that description and were written between say 1950 and 1969? Always best to start of with what songs are in your repertoire and go from there...

i was thinking on Mr. Cellophane song but it hasnīt any vocal range. Iīm a high tenor but i need a song witha good range. I donīt know much musicals from that years and i would like to sing something from Guys and Dolls, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Drowsy Chaperone or something well known for the people is coming making the auditions. The director will be Arthur Masella and my last work with him here in Mexico was Fiddler on the Roof as Fyedka.

I really don't know how well known musicals are where you are auditioning on Mexico but in the UK and US Chicago and all its songs are very overdone and we try to avoid most recent shows and/or those currently on Broadway/in the West End (like Millie, Drowsy, etc). In Mexico however, it may be totally different as people may not be as aware of material. Guys and dolls is perfect, however there are no tenor solos in there really. I suggest you do some reseach and get listening on you tube and Amazon and Itunes.
