There is a website of sorts called "Sweeney is Coming".

Funny typo in the title of this thread!!!

Never heard of anyone in the cast Confused but still YAYY!!!

London needed a revival of Sweeney. Let's hope it stays true to the original production and is nothing like the Broadway Revival.

I'll definately try to catch this.

I still wish they had a cast recording of the OLC starring Dennis Quilley.
Catherine

Ooh! If I hear good things about it I'll def try to get down to London and see it.

There are some short video clips on youtube of the OLC. But they are quite bad quality.

For a revival it doesn't seem it'll last that long! You sure this is a West End production?

There is the 1993 BBC recording (radio broadcast) of the opening night. Not the best quality but still better than nothing!

I'm not sure if it counts as a West End production. It's a small scale, limited engagement by the company who did The ALL MALE Mikado, which, it seems was West End - if you go by the review on the website. At any rate, with that in mind, I'd imagine there's a chance that there's a chance it might be high-concept in some way.

As for the cast, a guy from London who posts on another board I belong to who says the cast sounds pretty solid. I think their previous credits are mentioned in the full article at Playbill.

UH-GREED!

I e-mailed the guy and he said it will be piano+organ only which is..... interesting..
Monsieur D'Arque

I hope it looks nothing like the original and has a new, bold visual statement to make. But that's just me.

I thought London already had a revival. Didn't John Doyle's production open in London just a few years ago? I think that definitely qualified as a legitimate "revival." Does Trafalgar Studios count as a West End theatre? It's only a short walk from the majority of the theatre district.

I have a feeling this won't be technically west end.

They are interesting to see. I quite enjoyed Sheila Hancock for the brief moments you get to see her, but I felt that Denis Quilley just didn't have the fire of Len Cariou or George Hearn in the clip of "A Little Priest". I enjoyed him far more in the "Johanna" reprise.
