The cast list would compose of:

I post very rarely, but I've lurked for ages and so can describe the process:
1. the people who are running it post a thread called "Sweeney Todd Forum Cast Auditions" or something similar, listing the roles available.
2. anyone who's interested replies, usually with descriptions of themselves and reasons why they want to play the role (usually optional are photos of themselves or clips of themselves singing).

I'm all for this. It's been awhile since we've had a forum cast.
I kind of have an idea though, take it or leave it.
I think people should actually post audition songs with their audition post. Because I often cast these not knowing what people's voices actually sound like. That way people could cast based on voice and what the person wrote. Just a thought.

I would say people should have to be nominated... but that would just turn it into a selective popularity contest rather than a normal popularity contest.  A questionnaire or something like that might be cool. And if people don't/can't post audition songs up, maybe asking what their previous roles have been, vocal range and history, etc. might be good.

I was wondering if what your doing is like a cast recording or like a play thing or what? And what are the requirements such as age, vocal range, ect. But other than that Im all for this!!! And Im totally auditioning!

No, it's just a "forum cast" as in people vote for others to have the role and then they make a pretty signature banner bragging about it.

Sounds great!
Except I'd say that posting a picture should be completely optional because of internet safety.
But a questionaire (can't spell today, sorry) or a CV would be good because it would make it more casting based on your talents, not casting based on your popularity or what you've written.

No video will be required (but definitely help!!), however, I think a photo should be mandatory. If you're worried about internet safety you can talk with me about it and we'll arrange something. Keep throwing ideas at me on how I should make this process a bit more selective...I'm open to all ideas!

Hey this sounds great! I'd lvoe to do a WSS forum cast at some point.. I mean I know no one goes on the forum, but I bet there'd be loads of people who'd want to audition.

Maggie? Don't assume! Yes, Maggie probably will get it, as she's gorgeous and has a lovely soprano voice, but hey, she doesn't automatically get it.

Yikes. I hope you don't have that attitude in the real world at auditions! Like I said...I want to make this forum cast different than what everyone thinks is a popularity contest. The more people we can get to audition the better! So if you're interested then you should go for it! What do you have to lose??
I'd love more suggestions on making these auditions different from other forum casts. Nothing that would take too much effort (ex:recordings) but something to allow the voters to get to know the person better and what their abilities are.

Lyss, how about each auditioner posting a resume of previous theater experience? So the voters have an idea of what kind of performer the auditioner(s) is from the past roles they've played, aquired skills, age, range etc.

I do believe a picture should be mandatory. As for the resume, just a quick overview of age, vocal range, height, and previous roles, I think will suffice.

Im not that into the resume idea but I guess cause my only major role was Harold Hill from Music Man. But Im all for a non popularity contest seeing as Im fairly new to MdN forum, dont let the join date foolya. I also don't know my vocal range that well. Ironic right?

No, not at all! That's because I don't know who I'll be competing against for roles, so I figure I've got as good a chance as anyone.
Might I also add that I am brunette, and I'm not going to wig myself so the "yellow hair" lyrics make sense. LOL

Are people still allowed to post a vid/audio clip if it isn't mandatory? It's just, as I said before, I don't have a very impressive resume, so maybe people should see what someone's voice is like, if they can't judge it from their previous roles? Or maybe that'd give them an unfair advantage?

I agree with Catherine. A resume is a good indicator, but if you have the unfortunate luck to live around really crappy theatre venues (like me), then it isn't the best way to show what you can do. I think making video/audio mandatory isn't good, since most people won't want to do that. But for people who really want to, I think it'd be a good idea to let them.
And on that note.. I think we should make it a rule that you CAN'T submit a video/audio clip with a song from Sweeney Todd itself, because that would unfairly make voters think of you just because you sang a song.

I think that's a good idea. Like a 'real' audition- sing another Sondheim song that will showcase your talents, but don't sing from the show.

Thanks Brig! This format will be used so long as you're ok with me stealing the idea Yes, you can post a video/audio recording ONLY if it is not from Sweeney Todd, however it is not required. Photo is required (talk to me if you feel uncomfortable posting one.) I will start the auditions tomorrow through the end of the week. Yay! Again, the more people that audition the better!
