Re: Sweeney in diffrent languages...I've read the Norwegian translation. Which isn't bad as I feared. Sever of the Little Priest puns, for example, make sense in Norwegian to. |

So far,i've found the German and Dutch versions...but,sadly,they are litteral translations and can't be sung. |

Someone I shared a student's flat with for a while was studying to become a librarian. Through her faculty she was hired for a limited time by a music school or something in Oslo. There she got access to the vaults, and borrowed the translation secretly for me. Or maybe that was the Follies score? It may also have been that I borrowed the translation from The Norwegian Theatre in Oslo. I'm not sure. At any rate, the translation was actually used in a full production following the highly successful production of Les Miserables some time in the eighties. |

The Barcelona cast recording is second only to the OBC recording. It is quite magnificent. | ||

I've seen clips of the Barcelone production on Youtube and I really liked the Judge's Johanna...haunting, disturbing, and beautiful all at once.
The blood in that production is actually quite amusing too. It spurts out like a fountain from the blade. It's very comical, like a bad B movie, which sort of works for the show somehow... |
