Starlight coming to Dublin!

For any Irish out there, Starlight Express is coming to the Point Depot in Dublin From 26th July to 19th August . About time too! I've been dying to see this show for years now.

Tickets go on sale Monday 10th April.

is it still part of the tour or is it the full show?

Part of the tour I think..

However the Point cannot stage one of the scenes so they use a 3D projector for the skate rink.

Should be interesting - think I'll go just to see that!!

Johnathan - where you from?

Umm, if it's the tour, then NONE of the races are skated in any of the venues. They use 3D film and glasses and a not-very-big drop-down screen on which they project films of the races. It's pretty effective, and certainly saves a heap on set and safety and skater requirements!

If you want to see a REAL, full-length, fully-skating live production of Starlight Express, get a flight to Dortmund or Dusseldorf, Germany, then catch the local train to Bochum. That's where the permanent production is housed in its custom-built Starlighthalle. It really rocks!

My two divas go out there every summer for the Open Day, when fans are welcomed and given backstage tours and there's loads of competitions and HUNDREDS of fans from all over turn up in costumes and skates... it's a hoot!

Oh, and the Ibis hotels in Bochum are staffed by people who speak excellent English, and the whole place is really well organised. It's great fun to visit.

Every time my two (very long-time STarlight Express devotees) see the tour, it just re-ignites their determination to get out to Bochum as soon as possible to see the REAL show.
